Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 359 Floor Accessories

Will these floor mats fit my specific year Peterbilt 359?

Our floor accessories are designed to fit Peterbilt 359 models from 1967 to 1987. However, there can be slight variations between early and late production years. Pre-1975 models may have different floor pan dimensions around the transmission hump. We recommend measuring your floor area before ordering, especially if you have a non-standard transmission setup or have made modifications to your cab. Contact our support team with your OEM if you need help determining exact fitment.

What's the difference between rubber and carpet floor mats, and which holds up better?

Rubber floor mats are ideal for work trucks and wet conditions. They're waterproof, easy to clean with a hose, and typically last 5-7 years with heavy use. Our heavy-duty rubber mats are 3/8" thick and resist oil, diesel, and most chemicals. Carpet floor mats provide better insulation and a more finished look but require more maintenance. They're best for show trucks or highway applications. Most customers doing local deliveries or construction work prefer rubber, while long-haul drivers often choose carpet for comfort and noise reduction.

Do I need to remove my seats to install these floor accessories?

For complete floor mat sets, you'll need to remove at least the driver's seat for proper installation. The passenger seat removal is recommended but not always necessary. Basic hand tools are required - typically a 9/16" socket for most seat bolts. Installation takes about 30-45 minutes. Floor pans and sound deadening materials definitely require full seat removal and may need additional prep work like rust treatment or old adhesive removal.

Are replacement floor pans available for rusted-through floors?

Yes, we carry both full floor pan replacements and patch panels for common rust areas. The most problematic spots are usually behind the pedals and under the driver's seat mount. Our floor pans are 18-gauge steel with factory-correct ribbing and drain plugs. They require cutting out the damaged section and welding in the new piece. If you're not comfortable with metalwork, most body shops can install these for $300-500 in labor.

Will aftermarket floor accessories affect my pedal travel or seat adjustment?

Properly fitted floor mats should not interfere with pedal operation. Our mats include heel pad cutouts and are designed to sit below the pedal pivot points. However, stacking multiple mats or using universal-fit products can create dangerous interference. Always ensure full clutch, brake, and accelerator travel after installation. For trucks with air-ride seats, check that added floor thickness doesn't prevent the seat from reaching its lowest position, especially important for shorter drivers.
