International LT Hoods & Related

Frequently Asked Questions About International LT Hoods & Related

Will this hood fit my International LT model, or are there different versions to watch out for?

International LT hoods are designed specifically for the LT Series, but there can be differences based on model year and cab configuration, such as headlight mounting points and grille openings. Always check the fitment details listed on the product page and compare them to your VIN or existing hood specs before ordering to make sure you get the correct match.

What material is the hood made from, and how does it hold up over time?

These hoods are typically molded from fiberglass or SMC composite material, which is standard for the trucking industry due to its durability and resistance to cracking under normal road vibration. The finish is usually gel-coated, which can be painted to match your truck. Proper care, including regular washing and avoiding harsh chemicals, will help maintain its appearance and structural integrity longer.

Does the hood come pre-painted, or will I need to have it painted separately?

Most replacement hoods are sold in a primed or gel-coat finish and are not painted to match a specific truck color. This means you will likely need to have the hood painted after installation to match your existing paint scheme. Some sellers may offer paint-matching services or recommend local body shops experienced with fiberglass truck parts.

Are the mounting hardware and hinges included, or do I need to buy those separately?

This varies by listing, so it is important to check the product description carefully. Some hoods come as a bare shell only, while others may include hinges, latches, or other related hardware. If hardware is not included, you can typically source it separately, but confirming compatibility with your specific hood is recommended before purchase.

Can I install this hood myself, or should I have a professional do it?

Installing a hood is a job that experienced DIYers with the right tools and a second set of hands can often handle, especially if you are simply replacing an existing hood with the same design. However, because hoods are large, heavy, and require precise alignment for proper closure and latch function, many customers choose to have a professional shop complete the installation to avoid fitment issues or damage during handling.
