Air Tanks, Wraps & Mounting

Frequently Asked Questions About Air Tanks, Wraps & Mounting

What are air tank wraps made of, and how durable are they?

Air tank wraps are typically made from polished or brushed stainless steel or aluminum designed to cover the factory air tank on your truck for a cleaner, custom appearance. Stainless steel wraps tend to hold up well against road grime, moisture, and daily wear, while aluminum options are lighter but may show scratches more easily. Choosing a wrap with a durable finish and secure mounting hardware will help it stay looking good over the long haul.

Will an air tank wrap fit my specific truck and tank size?

Fitment depends on the diameter and length of your existing air tank as well as your truck make and model. Most wraps are designed for common air tank sizes found on popular semi-truck brands, but it is important to measure your tank and check the product listing for compatible dimensions before ordering. If you are unsure, reaching out to our team with your truck's year, make, and model can help confirm the right fit.

How do I install an air tank wrap, and do I need special tools?

Most air tank wraps are designed for a straightforward install using basic hand tools like a screwdriver or wrench, and many wrap around the existing tank without requiring you to disconnect air lines. However, some installations may involve removing brackets or straps to slide the wrap into place, so it helps to review the included instructions or product description beforehand. If your setup looks more involved, having a second set of hands or a shop assist with installation can make the job easier.

Can I still access drain valves and fittings with a wrap installed?

Quality air tank wraps are designed with cutouts or openings that allow access to drain valves, fittings, and other components you need for routine maintenance. Before purchasing, check the product details to confirm it accommodates the specific valve and fitting locations on your tank so you are not left disassembling the wrap every time you need to drain moisture or perform service.

Will adding an air tank wrap or mounting accessory affect DOT compliance?

Air tank wraps are generally cosmetic accessories and should not interfere with your air system's function as long as they do not block required access points, obstruct air lines, or cover mandatory markings or tags on the tank. That said, it is your responsibility to ensure any added accessory does not impede inspection points or violate FMCSA regulations, so if you have questions about a specific installation, checking with a certified mechanic or inspector is a good idea.
