Kenworth W990 Fuel Tank Acc.

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W990 Fuel Tank Acc.

What types of products are included in the Kenworth W990 Fuel Tank Accessories category?

This category covers accessories and hardware related to the fuel tanks on a Kenworth W990, such as fuel tank straps, brackets, mounting hardware, fuel caps, sight gauges, tank covers, and step or storage accessories that attach to or complement the fuel tank assembly. These parts are designed to work with the fuel tank setup already on your truck rather than replace the tank itself.

Will these accessories fit the specific fuel tank size on my W990?

Kenworth W990 trucks can be spec'd with different fuel tank diameters and lengths, so fit can vary between trucks. Before ordering, check the product listing for compatible tank sizes and measurements, and compare them to your own tank dimensions. If you are unsure, our customer service team can help confirm fit before you buy.

What materials are these fuel tank accessories made from, and how well do they hold up?

Most fuel tank accessories in this category are made from aluminum or steel, often with a polished, painted, or powder-coated finish depending on the product. Aluminum components tend to resist corrosion well and are a common choice for straps and brackets exposed to road conditions, while steel parts may offer added strength for mounting hardware. Check each listing for the specific material and finish before purchasing.

Can I install these fuel tank accessories myself, or do I need a professional?

Many items, such as fuel caps, sight gauges, or basic hardware, are straightforward enough for an experienced DIYer with common hand tools. More involved installs, like replacing straps or brackets that support the weight of a full fuel tank, may require jacking or supporting the tank safely during the swap. If you are not comfortable supporting the tank securely during installation, having a qualified shop handle it is a safer option.

Do these accessories affect fuel tank venting or DOT compliance?

Certain components, like fuel caps and vents, are designed to maintain proper tank venting and pressure relief, so it's important to use parts intended for your tank type rather than substituting incompatible hardware. If a product has any relevant certification or compliance information, it will be listed on the product page. When in doubt about how a specific accessory affects venting or compliance, consult your fuel tank's manufacturer specifications or a qualified technician.
