Peterbilt 379 Fuel Tank Acc.

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 379 Fuel Tank Acc.

What kinds of products are included in this category?

This category covers accessories and hardware for the fuel tanks on a Peterbilt 379, including items such as fuel tank straps, strap kits, mounting brackets, fuel caps, sight gauges, drain valves, and fuel tank covers or wraps. These parts are designed to support, secure, protect, or dress up the fuel tanks rather than replace the tank itself.

Will these accessories fit the fuel tanks on my Peterbilt 379?

Most items listed here are built to fit factory Peterbilt 379 fuel tanks, but tank diameter and mounting configuration can vary depending on the tank size and the year of the truck. Always check the listed tank diameter, length, and mounting style against your own setup before ordering, and reach out to our team if you are unsure how a specific part matches your rig.

What materials and finishes are available for fuel tank straps and covers?

Fuel tank straps and brackets are typically available in steel or aluminum, with finish options such as plain, polished, or chrome depending on the part. Tank covers and wraps are often offered in polished aluminum or stainless steel for a brighter, more finished look. Choosing a finish that matches the rest of your truck's accessories can help keep a consistent appearance.

How difficult is it to install fuel tank straps or a new fuel cap?

Installation difficulty depends on the specific part. Fuel caps and sight gauges are generally straightforward and can be swapped using basic hand tools. Straps and mounting brackets require more care, since the tank needs to be properly supported while the old strap is removed and the new one is installed and torqued down. If you are not comfortable supporting the tank safely during the swap, it is a good idea to have a qualified technician handle strap replacement.

Are there any safety or fuel system precautions I should know before replacing these parts?

Yes. Before working on straps, caps, or drain valves, make sure the tank is properly supported and that you relieve any pressure and avoid open flames or sparks near the fuel system. Fuel caps should seal properly to prevent leaks and keep debris out of the tank, and drain valves should be fully closed and checked for leaks after installation. If you have any doubts about a repair involving the fuel system, consult a professional to ensure everything is secured and sealed correctly.
