International WorkStar Heat & AC Parts

Frequently Asked Questions About International WorkStar Heat & AC Parts

What years of International WorkStar trucks are these HVAC parts compatible with?

Our International WorkStar heat and AC parts are designed to fit models from 2008 to 2017. However, compatibility can vary based on specific cab configurations and whether your truck has manual or automatic climate control. We recommend checking your OEM or calling our support team at 1-888-875-7787 to verify fitment for your specific WorkStar model year and configuration.

Are aftermarket heater cores and evaporators as reliable as OEM parts?

The aftermarket heater cores and evaporators we carry meet or exceed OEM specifications and are manufactured with aluminum cores and reinforced tanks for durability. Many of our customers report equal or better performance compared to factory parts, often at 30-50% less cost. All our HVAC components come with manufacturer warranties ranging from 1-3 years, depending on the specific part.

How difficult is it to replace a heater core or evaporator in a WorkStar, and what tools are needed?

Replacing a heater core typically requires 4-6 hours of labor and involves removing the dashboard and HVAC box. You'll need basic hand tools, trim removal tools, and a refrigerant recovery system for AC work. The evaporator replacement is more complex, requiring 6-8 hours and EPA certification for handling refrigerant. Many customers choose professional installation, though experienced DIY mechanics can complete the job with proper service manual guidance.

Do you carry both manual and automatic climate control components?

Yes, we stock parts for both manual and automatic climate control systems found in WorkStar trucks. This includes manual control valves, cables, and switches, as well as electronic actuators, control modules, and sensors for automatic systems. When ordering, please specify your climate control type or provide your OEM to ensure you receive the correct components for your system.

What's the most common cause of WorkStar HVAC failures, and which parts should I keep on hand?

Based on customer feedback, the most frequent failures are heater control valves (especially on 2008-2012 models), blower motor resistors, and blend door actuators. We recommend keeping a spare blower motor resistor and heater control valve in stock, as these parts often fail without warning and are relatively inexpensive. Refrigerant leaks at the evaporator connections are also common after 100,000 miles, making AC seal kits a smart preventive purchase.
