Kenworth W900B/W900L Hoods & Related

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W900B/W900L Hoods & Related

Will a replacement hood fit my Kenworth W900B or W900L exactly?

Hoods are designed to match the specific body lines and mounting points of the W900B and W900L models, but these two variants are not identical to each other. Always confirm your exact model year and cab configuration before ordering, and check with our sales team if you are unsure, since hood hinges, latches, and fender attachment points can vary between production years.

What materials are these hoods made from, and how do they compare to the factory original?

Most aftermarket hoods for the W900B/W900L are molded from fiberglass, which is the same general material used on the factory hoods. Fiberglass offers a good balance of durability and repairability, and it can be painted or gel-coated to match your truck. Quality can vary between manufacturers, so look at panel thickness and finish consistency when comparing options.

Do these hoods come primed or painted, or will I need to paint them myself?

Many replacement hoods ship in a gel-coat or primed finish rather than a full paint match, since color matching your specific truck requires professional paint work after installation. Check the product listing for the exact finish included, and plan on having the hood painted by a body shop if a factory color match is important to you.

What is involved in installing a new hood, and can I do it myself?

Hood installation typically involves transferring or replacing hinges, latches, and related hardware from your old hood, then aligning the new hood to the fenders and cab. Many owner-operators and shops handle this themselves, but proper alignment takes patience and sometimes a second set of hands. If you are not comfortable with bodywork, having a diesel repair shop install it will help avoid fitment and gap issues.

Are the related hood components, like hinges and latches, sold separately from the hood itself?

Yes, this category includes both complete hoods and individual related parts such as hinges, latches, hood springs, and mounting hardware. If you only need to replace a worn or broken component rather than the entire hood, check our listings for the specific part rather than ordering a full hood assembly.
