Peterbilt 352 Mud Flaps

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 352 Mud Flaps

What are the exact year and model specifications for Peterbilt 352 mud flaps?

Peterbilt 352 mud flaps are designed specifically for Peterbilt 352 models manufactured from 1969 through 1981. These mud flaps are compatible with both single and tandem axle configurations. Due to the vintage nature of the 352, we recommend verifying your truck's specific mounting bracket configuration before ordering, as some models may have custom modifications from previous owners.

What materials are available and which holds up best for heavy-duty use?

We offer Peterbilt 352 mud flaps in three primary materials: heavy-duty rubber (3/8" thick), anti-spray rubber composite, and stainless steel with rubber inserts. For maximum durability in harsh conditions, the anti-spray rubber composite performs best, lasting 3-5 years under normal use. Standard rubber flaps work well for lighter applications but may need replacement every 2-3 years. Stainless steel options provide the longest lifespan and best appearance retention but come at a premium price.

Do I need special brackets or hardware for installation?

Most Peterbilt 352 mud flaps require universal mounting brackets if your original brackets are missing or damaged. Our mud flap kits include standard mounting hardware (bolts, washers, and nuts), but you'll need the bracket assembly separately if not already installed on your truck. The original 352 used a straight bracket design that mounts directly to the frame rail. Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes per side with basic hand tools.

What sizes are available and how do I determine the correct dimensions?

Standard Peterbilt 352 mud flaps come in 24" x 24" and 24" x 30" sizes. To determine the correct size, measure from your mounting point to approximately 6-8 inches above ground level when the truck is loaded. The 24" x 30" size is most common for highway applications, while the 24" x 24" works better for trucks with lift kits or off-road modifications. Custom sizes can be special ordered for unique applications.

Are weighted mud flaps necessary for my Peterbilt 352?

Weighted mud flaps are highly recommended for highway driving over 55 mph, as they prevent excessive flapping and premature wear. Standard weights range from 2.5 to 5 pounds per flap. For local or lower-speed applications, non-weighted flaps work adequately. If you frequently drive in windy conditions or at interstate speeds, the weighted option will significantly extend the life of your mud flaps and reduce noise.
