International DuraStar Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About International DuraStar Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What exactly are fuel tank covers and bras used for?

Fuel tank covers and bras are protective and decorative coverings that fit over the fuel tanks on your International DuraStar. They shield the tank surface from road debris, scratches, and minor dings while also giving the truck a cleaner, more finished appearance. Many drivers use them to protect chrome or painted tanks from pitting caused by gravel, salt, and general wear.

Will these covers fit my specific fuel tank size and shape?

Fit depends on the diameter and length of your fuel tank, so it is important to measure your tank before ordering rather than going by cab model alone, since DuraStar trucks can be equipped with different tank sizes. Check the product listing for specific tank dimension requirements, and reach out to our team if you are unsure which size matches your setup.

What materials are these covers made from, and how do they hold up?

Fuel tank covers and bras are typically made from durable materials like stainless steel, aluminum, or heavy-duty vinyl/fabric blends, depending on the style. Stainless and aluminum options offer long-term durability and a polished look, while fabric-style bras are easier to install and remove but may show wear sooner in harsh weather or heavy road grime conditions.

How difficult is installation, and can I do it myself?

Most fuel tank covers and bras are designed for straightforward installation using existing mounting points, straps, or fasteners, so no welding or specialized tools are typically required. Fabric bras usually secure with straps or snaps, while metal covers may involve simple hardware attachment. Basic hand tools and a bit of patience are usually all you need for a proper fit.

Will adding a cover or bra affect access to my fuel tank or cap?

Quality covers and bras are designed with cutouts or flaps that allow easy access to the fuel cap and any gauges or drain points without needing to remove the entire cover. Still, it is a good idea to check the product description or images to confirm that access points align with your tank configuration before purchasing.
