International HX Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About International HX Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What exactly are fuel tank covers and bras, and what do they do?

Fuel tank covers and bras are protective and decorative panels that fit over or around the fuel tanks on your International HX. They shield the tank surface from road debris, rust, and scratches while also giving your truck a customized look. Many drivers use them to protect chrome or polished tanks from pitting and corrosion caused by salt, sand, and general wear.

Will these covers fit my specific fuel tank size and configuration?

Fit depends on the diameter and length of your fuel tanks, since International HX trucks can be equipped with different tank sizes. Always check the listed measurements and tank capacity specifications on each product page against your own tanks before ordering. If you are unsure of your tank dimensions, measuring the diameter and length yourself is the most reliable way to confirm compatibility.

What materials are these covers and bras made from, and how do they hold up?

Most tank covers and bras are made from durable materials like stainless steel, aluminum, or heavy-duty vinyl and fabric blends, depending on the style. Stainless and aluminum options offer long-term durability and a polished or brushed finish, while fabric bras are often chosen for lighter protection and easier removal. Choosing a material comes down to how much protection you want versus the look you are going for.

How are fuel tank covers and bras installed, and do I need special tools?

Installation methods vary by product type. Metal covers typically use mounting straps, clamps, or brackets that wrap around the tank and require basic hand tools to tighten securely. Fabric bras usually stretch or snap into place and can often be installed without any tools at all. Most covers are designed for straightforward installation without needing to drill into the tank or truck frame.

Do fuel tank covers interfere with access to fuel caps, gauges, or drain valves?

Quality covers and bras are designed with cutouts or flexible openings for fuel caps, sight gauges, and drain valves so you can still access these components without removing the entire cover. That said, it is worth double checking product photos and descriptions to confirm the cutout placement matches your tank setup, especially if your HX has add-on components like sight glasses or additional fittings.
