Freightliner Century 112/120 Diesel Fuel Tanks

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Century 112/120 Diesel Fuel Tanks

Will this fuel tank fit my Freightliner Century 112 or 120 without modification?

Fuel tanks in this category are designed to match the mounting configurations and frame dimensions used on Freightliner Century 112 and 120 models, but exact fit can vary by model year and original tank capacity or shape. Before ordering, check the tank's listed dimensions, capacity, and mounting hole spacing against your truck's specifications or your original tank to confirm compatibility.

What materials are these fuel tanks made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Diesel fuel tanks for the Century 112/120 are typically constructed from aluminum or steel. Aluminum tanks are lighter and naturally resistant to rust, while steel tanks tend to be more affordable but may require additional coating to resist corrosion. Consider your climate, road conditions, and weight priorities when choosing between the two.

What capacity options are available, and how do I choose the right size?

Tanks are available in a range of capacities to match different chassis setups and route needs, such as regional hauls versus long-haul routes. Measure your existing tank or check your truck's build specs to determine the capacity and physical dimensions that will fit your frame rails and existing fuel system plumbing.

What's involved in installing a replacement fuel tank, and can I do it myself?

Installation generally involves draining and removing the old tank, transferring or replacing mounting straps and brackets, and reconnecting fuel lines, vent lines, and sending unit wiring. While experienced DIYers with proper lift equipment and tools can handle the job, many owners have this done by a qualified technician to ensure fuel lines are sealed correctly and the sending unit functions properly.

Do these tanks come with the sending unit, straps, and fittings included, or are those sold separately?

This varies by listing, so it's important to check each product's included components before ordering. Some tanks ship as a bare tank only, while others may include straps or fittings. If your listing doesn't include a sending unit or mounting hardware, you may need to transfer these from your original tank or purchase them separately.
