Kenworth W900B/W900L Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W900B/W900L Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What are fuel tank covers and bras, and what do they do?

Fuel tank covers, also called fuel tank bras or half-fenders, are protective and decorative panels that fit over or around the fuel tanks on your Kenworth W900B or W900L. They shield the tank surface from road debris, rust, and minor scratches while also giving the truck a customized look. Many drivers use them to protect chrome or polished tanks and to add a distinct style to their rig.

Will these covers fit my specific fuel tank size and tank style?

Fit depends on the diameter and length of your fuel tanks as well as the tank style used on your W900B or W900L. Before ordering, measure your tank diameter and confirm whether your truck uses straight, step, or flat-style tanks, since covers are typically designed for specific tank dimensions. Checking the product description against your tank specs is the best way to confirm a proper fit.

What materials are these covers made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Fuel tank covers and bras are commonly made from durable materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, or heavy-duty diamond plate, often finished in polished, brushed, or chrome-look finishes. Stainless steel and aluminum options generally resist corrosion well and hold up to regular highway use, though finish retention can vary based on exposure to road salt, debris, and cleaning frequency.

How difficult is it to install a fuel tank cover or bra myself?

Most fuel tank covers are designed for straightforward installation using existing mounting points, clamps, or straps, and many drivers install them without needing a shop visit. However, ease of installation can depend on the specific product design and whether any brackets or fasteners need to be adjusted to match your tank setup. Reviewing the included installation instructions or reaching out to our team before you order can help you know what tools and time to expect.

Can I still access fuel caps, drain plugs, and straps with the cover installed?

Quality fuel tank covers are typically designed with cutouts or openings for fuel caps, drain plugs, and mounting straps so you can maintain normal access for fueling and service. Even so, it is a good idea to confirm cutout placement against your tank's cap and strap locations before purchase, especially if your tank has an aftermarket or non-standard configuration.
