International 8100-8300 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About International 8100-8300 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What are fuel tank covers and bras used for?

Fuel tank covers and bras are designed to wrap around the fuel tank on your International 8100-8300 to protect it from road debris, dirt, rust, and general wear. They also give your truck a cleaner, more finished appearance by covering exposed straps and hardware.

Will a fuel tank cover fit my specific tank size?

Fuel tank covers are typically made to fit specific tank diameters and lengths, so it is important to measure your existing tank before ordering. Check the product listing for the exact tank dimensions it is designed to fit, since International 8100-8300 models can be equipped with different sized fuel tanks depending on the truck configuration.

What materials are these covers made from, and how do they hold up?

Most tank covers and bras are made from heavy-duty materials such as diamond plate aluminum, stainless steel, or durable vinyl-coated fabric, depending on the style you choose. Metal covers offer a polished or brushed finish and strong resistance to dents and corrosion, while fabric bras are more flexible and help guard against scratches and minor debris impact.

How difficult is it to install a fuel tank cover or bra?

Installation is generally straightforward and can often be done without professional help. Metal covers usually secure with the existing tank straps or included mounting hardware, while fabric bras typically use snaps, buckles, or ties to wrap securely around the tank. Basic hand tools are usually all that is needed, and most covers are designed for a bolt-on or strap-on fit without permanent modification.

Can I still access fuel caps, drains, and sending units with a cover installed?

Yes, most fuel tank covers and bras are designed with cutouts or flaps that allow access to fuel caps, drain plugs, and sending units without needing to remove the entire cover. When selecting a cover, double check the product details to confirm it includes the access points needed for your specific tank setup.
