International ProStar Fairings & Steps

Frequently Asked Questions About International ProStar Fairings & Steps

Will these fairings and steps fit my specific International ProStar model year?

International made several design changes to the ProStar over its production run, so fairing and step fitment can vary between earlier and later model years. Before ordering, check the listed year range and cab configuration on each product page, and compare mounting points against your truck. If you are unsure, reach out to our team with your VIN or model year so we can confirm compatibility before you buy.

What materials are these fairings and steps made from, and how do they hold up?

Most fairings are molded from durable plastic or composite material designed to withstand road vibration and weather exposure, while steps are typically built from aluminum or steel for strength under repeated use. Material call-outs are listed in each product description, so you can compare durability and weight based on what matters most for your application.

Do these parts come primed, painted, or unfinished?

Fairings are commonly sold unpainted or in a primer-ready finish so they can be color-matched to your truck, though some listings do offer a factory-style finish. Steps are usually available in a raw aluminum, diamond-plate, or powder-coated finish depending on the manufacturer. Check the finish details on the individual product listing, since options vary by part and brand.

Can I install these fairings and steps myself, or do I need a professional?

Many steps and fairing kits are designed to bolt onto existing mounting locations using factory-style hardware, which makes them manageable for an experienced DIYer with basic tools. That said, fairing alignment and step bracket positioning can affect fit and long-term durability, so if you are not comfortable with fabrication or alignment work, having a truck shop handle installation is a good option.

Will adding aftermarket fairings or steps affect fuel efficiency or ground clearance?

Fairings are generally designed to improve airflow around the cab and reduce drag, which can support better fuel efficiency when properly fitted and aligned. Steps are built to provide safe, stable access to the cab without significantly reducing ground clearance, but always double check step height and mounting position against your specific truck configuration to avoid clearance issues on uneven terrain.
