International 9900/i/ix Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About International 9900/i/ix Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What are fuel tank covers and bras used for?

Fuel tank covers, also called fuel tank bras, are protective wraps that fit over your International 9900/i/ix fuel tanks to shield them from road debris, rust, pitting, and general wear. They also give your truck a cleaner, more customized look while helping preserve the factory finish underneath.

Will these fit my specific fuel tank size?

Fuel tank covers are typically made to match specific tank diameters and lengths, so it's important to measure your tanks before ordering. Check the product listing for the exact tank dimensions it's designed for, and compare that to your truck's tank specs to ensure a proper fit on your 9900, 9900i, or 9900ix.

What materials are these covers made from, and how durable are they?

Most fuel tank covers are made from heavy-duty materials like textured or smooth vinyl, diamond plate aluminum, or stainless steel, depending on the style you choose. Vinyl and textured options tend to be more flexible and easier to install, while metal covers offer added rigidity and a more polished appearance. Durability depends on the material and how well it's maintained, but all options are built to handle daily highway exposure.

How difficult is it to install a fuel tank cover myself?

Installation difficulty varies by style. Vinyl bras usually stretch over the tank and secure with straps, snaps, or hidden fasteners, making them a relatively simple bolt-on or wrap-style install you can do in your own bay. Hard-shell metal covers may require more precise fitting and mounting hardware. Most covers come with basic installation instructions, and no major tools beyond common hand tools are typically needed.

Can I still access fuel caps, drains, and straps with the cover installed?

Yes, quality fuel tank covers are designed with cutouts or access points for fuel caps, drain plugs, and mounting straps so you don't have to remove the cover for routine fueling or maintenance. Always double check the product description or images to confirm the access points align with your tank's cap and strap locations before buying.
