Kenworth T600 Winter Fronts & Bug Screens

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth T600 Winter Fronts & Bug Screens

What is the difference between a winter front and a bug screen?

A winter front is a cold-weather cover that mounts over the grille to block airflow through the radiator, helping the engine reach and maintain proper operating temperature in freezing conditions. A bug screen is a mesh or louvered panel designed to keep insects, debris, and road grime from clogging the radiator and grille during warmer months. Both attach in the same general area on the front of the truck, but they serve opposite seasonal purposes.

Will this winter front or bug screen fit my Kenworth T600?

Fit can vary depending on the model year and grille style of your T600, since Kenworth made changes to the front end over the years the truck was in production. Always check the listed year range and grille configuration on the product page before ordering, and compare it against your truck's grille to confirm a proper match.

What materials are these winter fronts and bug screens made from?

Winter fronts are typically made from heavy-duty vinyl, canvas, or coated fabric designed to withstand wind and cold temperatures without cracking or tearing. Bug screens are usually constructed from aluminum, stainless steel, or heavy-gauge mesh that can handle exposure to debris and weather without corroding or sagging over time.

How do I install a winter front or bug screen on my T600?

Most winter fronts and bug screens are designed for straightforward installation using existing mounting points, snaps, straps, or bolt-on hardware, depending on the specific product. No major modifications to the truck are typically required, though it's a good idea to review the installation instructions included with your specific product before starting.

Can I leave a winter front on year-round, or should it be removed in warmer months?

Winter fronts are intended for cold weather use only. Leaving one on during warmer months can restrict airflow to the radiator and cause the engine to run hotter than normal, which may lead to overheating. It's best to remove the winter front once temperatures rise and swap in a bug screen if added protection from debris is still needed.
