Kenworth Cabover Roof Trim

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth Cabover Roof Trim

What exactly is roof trim, and which part of the cab does it cover?

Roof trim refers to the decorative and protective molding that runs along the edges and seams of the cab roof on Kenworth cabover models. It typically covers the transition points between the roof panel and the cab sides, helping to conceal seams, fasteners, or wear points while giving the truck a finished, factory-style appearance.

Will this roof trim fit my specific Kenworth cabover model?

Roof trim is generally designed to match specific Kenworth cabover platforms, such as the K100 or similar models, so fitment can vary based on cab length, roof style, and production year. Always check the listed model compatibility on each product page and compare it against your truck's VIN or cab specs before ordering to avoid fitment issues.

What materials and finishes are available for roof trim?

Roof trim is commonly offered in stainless steel or chrome-plated finishes for durability and a polished look, though some pieces may come in painted or unfinished metal depending on the application. Stainless steel tends to hold up well against road grime and weather exposure, while chrome offers a brighter, more reflective appearance.

How difficult is it to install roof trim, and can I do it myself?

Most roof trim pieces are designed for straightforward installation using existing mounting points, clips, or adhesive backing, depending on the specific part. Many customers install these pieces themselves with basic hand tools, but if your trim requires drilling, sealing, or precise alignment along body seams, it may be worth having a professional handle the job to ensure a clean, weather-tight fit.

Does adding roof trim affect the truck's weather sealing or cause leaks?

When installed correctly, roof trim should not interfere with the cab's weather sealing and in some cases helps protect seams from moisture intrusion. However, improper installation, especially with trim that requires drilling or adhesive, can create gaps or disrupt existing seals. Using proper sealant where recommended and following the manufacturer's installation guidance will help maintain a watertight fit.
