Freightliner FLD SBA Diesel Fuel Tanks

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner FLD SBA Diesel Fuel Tanks

Will this fuel tank fit my Freightliner FLD SBA correctly?

Fuel tanks for the FLD SBA are designed to match the frame width, mounting bracket spacing, and strap configuration of this specific chassis. Because tank capacity, diameter, and length can vary by model year and original equipment setup, its important to confirm your trucks tank dimensions and mounting hole placement before ordering. If you are unsure, checking your existing tank measurements or providing your VIN to our parts team can help ensure a proper fit.

What materials are these fuel tanks made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Diesel fuel tanks for the FLD SBA are typically constructed from aluminum or steel. Aluminum tanks are lighter and naturally resistant to rust, while steel tanks tend to be heavier but can offer added durability in certain applications. Both materials are built to withstand road vibration, temperature changes, and constant exposure to diesel fuel, but proper mounting and routine inspection for wear or corrosion will help extend the life of any tank.

What size and capacity options are available for the FLD SBA?

Fuel tanks for this model are available in a range of capacities and diameters to match different frame lengths and fuel needs. Common sizes include various gallon capacities designed to bolt into the same mounting locations as the original tank. Reviewing your trucks current tank size or checking specifications on each product listing will help you select the correct capacity for your application.

What is involved in installing a replacement fuel tank on an FLD SBA?

Installation generally involves removing the old tank straps and fuel lines, transferring or replacing mounting brackets, and securing the new tank with the appropriate straps and hardware. Fuel senders, drain plugs, and fittings from your existing tank may need to be reinstalled or replaced depending on their condition. Because this job involves handling diesel fuel and fuel lines, installation should be performed by someone comfortable with basic mechanical work, and all fittings should be checked for a secure, leak-free seal before the truck is put back into service.

Do these tanks come with mounting straps, brackets, and fittings included?

This varies by product and listing. Some fuel tanks are sold as a bare tank only, while others may include straps, sending unit openings, or fittings. Always check the specific product description for what is included so you can plan ahead for any additional hardware, gaskets, or fittings you may need to complete the installation.
