Freightliner Cascadia 113/125 Winter Fronts-Bug

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Cascadia 113/125 Winter Fronts-Bug Screens

What is a winter front or bug screen and why would I need one on my Cascadia?

A winter front is a cover that mounts over the grille area of your truck to block cold air from hitting the radiator, helping the engine reach and maintain proper operating temperature in cold weather. A bug screen serves a similar purpose but is designed to keep insects and road debris out of the grille and cooling components year-round. Both attach to the front of the truck and help protect the cooling system and engine bay from outside elements.

Will this winter front or bug screen fit my specific Cascadia model year?

Freightliner made changes to the Cascadia grille and front-end design across different production years, so fit can vary between older and newer 113 and 125 models. Always check the listed compatibility details on each product page, including model year ranges, before ordering. If you are unsure whether a specific part matches your truck, contact our team with your VIN or model year so we can confirm fitment.

What materials are these winter fronts and bug screens made from, and how durable are they?

Products in this category are typically made from heavy-duty materials such as reinforced vinyl, coated fabric, or mesh screening designed to withstand highway speeds, road debris, and temperature extremes. Material and construction can vary by manufacturer and specific product, so check the individual listing for details on fabric weight, coating, and any reinforcement at stress points like grommets or edges.

How do I install a winter front or bug screen on my truck?

Most winter fronts and bug screens are designed for a relatively straightforward installation using existing mounting points, snaps, straps, or grommets along the grille area, without requiring permanent modification to the truck. Installation time and method can differ depending on the specific product and whether it is a full cover or a partial screen. Refer to the instructions included with your specific product, as attachment points and hardware can vary between brands and styles.

Can I leave a winter front on during warmer months, or does it need to be removed?

Winter fronts are intended primarily for cold weather use, and leaving one on in warmer temperatures can cause the engine to run hotter than normal, which may lead to overheating issues. Most drivers remove or roll up the winter front once temperatures rise and only use a lighter bug screen, if needed, during warmer seasons. Check your specific product's design, as some winter fronts include roll-up or partial-coverage features for transitional weather.
