Volvo VNR Fairings & Steps

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo VNR Fairings & Steps

Will these fairings and steps fit my Volvo VNR model year?

Volvo made updates to the VNR body design over the years, so fit can vary between earlier and later production runs. Before ordering, check the listed model years and cab configuration on each product page, and compare against your VIN or existing fairing and step setup to confirm a proper match.

Are these fairings and steps made from steel, aluminum, or plastic composite?

Materials vary by part and manufacturer. Fairings are commonly molded from durable composite or fiberglass materials designed to hold up to road debris and weather, while steps are typically constructed from aluminum or steel for strength under regular foot traffic. Check the specific product description for the exact material used, as this affects weight, durability, and finish options.

Do the fairings and steps come pre-painted, or will I need to paint them myself?

Some fairings arrive in a raw or primed finish that requires paint matching to your truck, while others are offered in a factory finish or color-matched option. Steps are generally left unpainted or finished in a durable coating like powder coat for corrosion resistance. Review each listing carefully to see what finish is included before you buy.

What tools or mounting hardware do I need to install these parts?

Most fairings and steps are designed to bolt onto existing mounting points using basic hand tools, though some installations may require drilling or additional brackets depending on the specific part and your truck's configuration. Mounting hardware is often included, but we recommend reviewing the installation notes on the product page and having a standard socket set and drill on hand just in case.

Will adding aftermarket steps or fairings affect fuel efficiency or airflow?

Fairings are generally designed to improve aerodynamics by smoothing airflow around the cab and reducing drag, which can help with fuel efficiency when properly fitted and aligned. Steps are functional components meant to aid entry and exit and typically have minimal impact on airflow. Proper installation and alignment matter for getting the intended aerodynamic benefit from fairings.
