International ProStar Grille Guards

Frequently Asked Questions About International ProStar Grille Guards

Will a grille guard fit my International ProStar without modifications?

Grille guards designed for the International ProStar are built to match the factory grille, hood, and frame mounting points for that specific model year range. Because International made changes to the ProStar's front end over its production run, it's important to confirm your truck's exact model year and cab configuration before ordering to ensure a proper, hassle-free fit.

What materials are these grille guards made from, and which finish should I choose?

International ProStar grille guards are typically constructed from heavy-duty steel or aluminum tubing. Steel versions offer maximum strength and are usually available in a durable powder-coated black or chrome-plated finish, while aluminum options provide a lighter weight with good corrosion resistance. Chrome finishes give a polished, reflective look but may require more frequent cleaning to prevent water spotting, whereas powder-coated black finishes tend to hide road grime and minor scratches better over time.

Can I still use my factory fog lights, sensors, or bug screen with a grille guard installed?

Most grille guards are designed with cutouts or mounting provisions to accommodate factory fog lights and, in many cases, forward-facing sensors used for safety systems. However, coverage varies by specific guard design, so it's worth checking the product description or reaching out to our team to confirm compatibility with any factory equipment or aftermarket bug screens you plan to keep using.

Does installing a grille guard require drilling or professional installation?

Grille guards for the ProStar generally bolt on using existing frame mounting points or included brackets, so extensive drilling is usually not required. That said, installation involves working around the front bumper, frame rails, and sometimes air lines or wiring, so having access to basic hand tools and a second set of hands is recommended. Many customers complete installation in their own shop, though professional installation is always an option if you're not comfortable with the process.

Will adding a grille guard affect my truck's warranty or DOT compliance?

Aftermarket grille guards themselves are not inherently a DOT compliance issue, but modifications that affect headlight visibility, license plate placement, or airflow to the radiator could potentially raise concerns during inspection. We recommend reviewing your fleet or manufacturer guidelines before installation, and if your truck is still under factory warranty, checking with your International dealer about how aftermarket front-end accessories may affect warranty coverage on related components.
