Freightliner Century 112/120 Fuel Tank Covers-Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Century 112/120 Fuel Tank Covers-Bras

What is a fuel tank cover or bra, and why would I need one?

A fuel tank cover, often called a tank bra, is a protective wrap that fits over your Freightliner Century's fuel tank to shield the tank surface from road debris, rock chips, salt, and general wear. They also help preserve the look of polished or painted tanks by reducing scratches and fading from sun exposure.

Will this fit both the 112 and 120 models, and do I need to know my tank size?

Fuel tank covers are typically made to match specific tank diameters and lengths rather than the cab model alone, so while the 112 and 120 share many components, you should confirm the diameter and length of your fuel tank before ordering. Checking your tank's measurements against the product listing is the best way to ensure a proper fit.

What materials are these covers made from, and how long will they hold up?

Most tank covers are constructed from heavy-duty vinyl or similar weather-resistant materials designed to withstand sun, rain, and road grime. Durability depends on driving conditions and exposure, but quality covers are built to handle daily highway use without quickly cracking or fading.

How do I install a fuel tank cover, and can I do it myself?

Installation is generally straightforward and doesn't require special tools. Most covers wrap around the tank and secure with snaps, straps, or hook-and-loop fasteners. Most drivers are able to install these on their own in a short amount of time, though it helps to have the tank clean and dry before fitting the cover for a snug, secure result.

Do fuel tank covers interfere with access to the fuel cap, gauges, or drain valves?

Well-designed covers include cutouts or flaps for the fuel cap and any gauges or valves mounted on the tank, so you can still access these components without removing the entire cover. Before purchasing, it's a good idea to check the product description or photos to confirm it accommodates the specific fittings on your tank.
