Peterbilt 362 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 362 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What is the purpose of a fuel tank cover or bra on my Peterbilt 362?

Fuel tank covers and bras wrap around the exterior of your fuel tanks to shield them from road debris, rust, scratches, and general wear. They also give your truck a cleaner, more finished look while helping protect the factory or aftermarket paint on the tank underneath.

Will a fuel tank cover fit my specific tank size and shape?

Peterbilt 362 fuel tanks come in different diameters and lengths depending on the model year and configuration, so it is important to measure your tank's diameter and length before ordering. Check the product listing for sizing details and compare them to your tank's measurements to confirm a proper fit.

What materials are these covers made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Most fuel tank covers and bras are made from durable materials like stainless steel, aluminum, or heavy-duty vinyl/fabric blends, depending on the style. Stainless and aluminum options tend to offer long-term durability and resistance to corrosion, while fabric bras provide a snug fit and easy on/off convenience for cleaning or maintenance access.

How difficult is it to install a fuel tank cover or bra myself?

Installation difficulty varies by product type. Fabric bras typically use straps, snaps, or elastic edges and can be installed without tools in a short amount of time. Metal covers may require basic hand tools and mounting hardware, and some designs clamp or bolt around the existing tank straps. Most covers are designed for straightforward installation without modifying the truck.

Can I still access fuel caps, drain plugs, and sending units with the cover installed?

Quality fuel tank covers and bras are designed with cutouts or flaps that allow access to fuel caps, drain plugs, and sending units without needing to remove the entire cover. Its still a good idea to check the product description or images to confirm access points align with your tank's layout before purchasing.
