Peterbilt 389 Driving Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 389 Driving Lights

Will these driving lights fit my Peterbilt 389 without modification?

Most driving lights in this category are designed to mount to the factory bumper, grille, or brackets used on the Peterbilt 389, so they typically install using existing mounting points. However, fitment can vary depending on the model year and whether your truck has a factory or aftermarket bumper, so it is always a good idea to check the product description and confirm bracket or mounting compatibility before ordering.

What is the difference between the driving light options available, such as LED versus halogen?

LED driving lights generally offer brighter output, lower power draw, and longer service life compared to halogen units, while halogen lights tend to be a more budget friendly option with a warmer light color. The right choice depends on your priorities around brightness, longevity, and budget, so review the specifications listed for each light to see which output and bulb type best suits your driving needs.

Are these driving lights legal to use on the road?

Driving lights are typically intended as supplemental lighting and are not a replacement for your truck's required headlights or DOT-mandated lighting. Regulations on auxiliary lighting, including color, placement, and when they can be used, vary by state and jurisdiction, so it is important to check your local laws to ensure any lights you install comply with applicable regulations.

How difficult is it to install driving lights on a Peterbilt 389?

Installation difficulty depends on the specific product, but many driving lights are designed for a straightforward bolt-on installation using existing mounting locations. Wiring in the lights to a switch or existing harness may require basic electrical knowledge, and if you are not comfortable working with wiring, having a professional install the lights is a good option to ensure everything is connected safely and correctly.

What housing materials and finishes are available for these lights?

Driving lights in this category are commonly available in chrome, black, or stainless steel housings to match the look of your truck. Housing materials vary by product and may include durable plastics or metal construction, so check the individual product listing for details on the specific material and finish before making your selection.
