Volvo VNL Gen II Fairings & Steps

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo VNL Gen II Fairings & Steps

Will these fairings and steps fit my Volvo VNL, or are they specific to certain model years?

This category is designed for the Gen II body style of the Volvo VNL, which covers a specific range of production years before Volvo updated the cab design. Because fairing and step mounting points, contours, and bracket locations changed between generations, it's important to confirm your truck is a Gen II VNL before ordering. If you're unsure which generation your truck falls into, compare your cab and fender styling to the product photos or reach out to our team with your VIN or model year so we can verify fit before you buy.

What materials are these fairings and steps made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Fairings in this category are typically molded from durable plastics or composite materials designed to withstand road debris, vibration, and weather exposure, while steps are generally constructed from aluminum or steel for strength and load-bearing durability. Finish options can include painted, primed, or raw/unfinished surfaces depending on the specific product, so check each listing for material and finish details. Proper installation and occasional cleaning will help maximize the lifespan of both fairings and steps.

Do these fairings and steps require drilling or major modifications to install?

Most fairings and steps in this category are built to use existing mounting points or factory-style brackets, so extensive drilling is usually not required. That said, some products may need minor trimming, hardware adjustments, or bracket alignment depending on your truck's specific configuration. We recommend reviewing the installation instructions or reaching out to our support team before starting the job so you know exactly what tools and steps to expect.

Can I install these parts myself, or should I have a professional do it?

Many customers install fairings and steps themselves with basic hand tools, especially if they're replacing an existing part with a factory-fit replacement. However, if your project involves aligning multiple components, working with brackets that have shifted from prior damage, or ensuring proper structural support for steps, having a professional shop handle the install can help avoid fitment issues or safety concerns down the road.

Will these steps support the weight and daily use of regular truck operation?

Steps sold in this category are built for the daily wear of climbing in and out of the cab and are constructed to handle regular use under normal operating conditions. That said, weight capacity and durability can vary between products, so it's worth checking individual product specifications if you have specific concerns about load capacity. Keeping steps clean and free of ice or debris also helps maintain safe footing and reduces long-term wear.
