Volvo VNL Gen II Driving Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo VNL Gen II Driving Lights

Will these driving lights fit my Volvo VNL?

These lights are designed specifically for Gen II Volvo VNL models. Volvo updated the VNL body style over the years, so before ordering, confirm whether your truck is a Gen I, Gen II, or Gen III VNL, as mounting locations and housing shapes changed between generations. Checking your VIN or comparing your existing light housing to the product photos is the best way to verify fitment.

Are these lights a direct OEM replacement, or will I need to modify anything?

Most driving lights in this category are built to bolt into the factory mounting location using the existing holes and connectors, so no cutting or drilling is typically required. However, wiring harness connectors can vary depending on the trim level and options your truck came with, so it's a good idea to compare connector types before installation.

What is the difference between the driving light and the fog light or turn signal on my VNL?

On the Gen II VNL, the driving light is a separate housing from the fog light and turn signal, usually positioned in the bumper or fascia area. It's easy to mix these up when ordering, so check the layout of your front end and compare it to the product listing photos to make sure you're purchasing the correct light for that specific position.

Do these lights come with the wiring harness and bulbs included, or are those sold separately?

This varies by product, so always check the individual listing details. Some driving lights include the bulb and a plug-and-play harness connector, while others are sold as a housing only. If you're replacing a light due to a burnt-out bulb rather than physical damage, it may be more cost effective to purchase just the bulb instead of the full assembly.

Can I install these driving lights myself, or do I need a professional?

Many drivers and fleet technicians install these lights themselves since the process generally involves removing a few fasteners, disconnecting the old harness, and connecting the new light. No special tools are usually required. That said, if your truck's wiring has been modified from factory or you're not comfortable working around electrical connectors, having a qualified technician handle the installation is a reasonable option.
