International ProStar Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About International ProStar Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What is a fuel tank cover or bra, and why would I add one to my International ProStar?

A fuel tank cover, sometimes called a tank bra, is a fitted panel or wrap that covers the exposed fuel tank on your ProStar. It protects the tank from road debris, dents, and UV exposure while giving the truck a cleaner, more finished look. Many drivers and owner-operators also use them to personalize their truck or match other exterior accents.

Will a fuel tank cover fit my specific tank size and ProStar configuration?

Fit depends on your tank diameter and length, since ProStars can be equipped with different tank sizes. Before ordering, measure your tank's diameter and length and compare those measurements to the specifications listed on the product page. If you are unsure, reach out to our team with your tank dimensions so we can confirm the correct fit before you buy.

What materials are these covers made from, and how well do they hold up?

Fuel tank covers are typically made from durable materials such as textured or smooth aluminum, stainless steel, or heavy-duty vinyl and fabric for bra-style covers. Metal covers tend to offer more impact resistance and a longer service life, while fabric bras are lighter and easier to remove for tank access. Choose the material that best matches how much protection versus convenience you need.

How difficult is it to install a fuel tank cover myself?

Most tank covers and bras are designed for straightforward installation using clamps, straps, or existing mounting hardware, so no cutting or drilling is typically required. Basic hand tools and a second set of hands to help position the cover around the tank are usually all you need. Always check the included instructions, since strap tension and clamp placement can vary by product.

Will a tank cover interfere with fuel fill-ups, gauges, or routine maintenance?

Quality tank covers are designed with cutouts or flaps for the fuel cap, sight gauge, and drain plug so you can still access these points without removing the entire cover. That said, designs vary between manufacturers, so it is worth reviewing product photos and descriptions to confirm the cutouts match the components on your specific tank before purchasing.
