Volvo VNL Gen II Fuel Tank Brackets & Straps

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo VNL Gen II Fuel Tank Brackets & Straps

Will these brackets and straps fit my Volvo VNL Gen II fuel tank?

Fuel tank brackets and straps are typically designed to match specific tank diameters and mounting configurations, so fitment can vary even within the Volvo VNL Gen II lineup. Before ordering, check your tank's diameter and the mounting hole spacing on your frame rail, and compare those measurements to the product specifications listed on each item. If you are unsure, having your tank size and VNL model year on hand will help our team confirm the right fit for your truck.

What material are the brackets and straps made from, and how well do they hold up over time?

Most fuel tank brackets and straps in this category are constructed from steel, often with a protective coating or finish to help resist rust and corrosion from road exposure. Since these components support the weight of a full fuel tank and are exposed to constant vibration, road debris, and moisture, choosing a properly finished, heavy-duty part matters for long-term durability. Check each product listing for specific finish details, such as zinc plating or powder coating, to know what level of corrosion resistance to expect.

Are these OEM parts or aftermarket replacements?

This category includes both OEM and aftermarket fuel tank brackets and straps, so you can choose based on your budget and preference. OEM parts are built to match Volvo's original specifications exactly, while quality aftermarket options are designed to be a direct fit replacement at a lower cost. Each product listing will note whether the part is OEM or aftermarket so you can make the choice that works best for your truck and budget.

How difficult is it to install a new fuel tank bracket or strap, and do I need special tools?

Installation generally involves supporting the fuel tank securely, removing the worn or damaged bracket or strap, and bolting the new one into place using basic hand tools such as wrenches and sockets. Because you are working underneath a loaded fuel tank, it is important to use a jack or stand to support the tank safely during removal and installation. If your truck has any rust or seized bolts, penetrating oil and extra time should be planned for ahead of the job.

How do I know if my current bracket or strap needs to be replaced?

Common signs that a fuel tank bracket or strap needs replacement include visible rust or corrosion, cracking, bending, or a fuel tank that feels loose or shifts when the truck is in motion. Regularly inspecting these components during routine maintenance can help catch wear before it leads to a bigger issue on the road. If you notice any unusual movement, noise, or visible damage to the tank mounting hardware, it is a good idea to replace the affected bracket or strap promptly.
