Haul of Fame: The Story Behind Mies & Sons’ “Mooving Violation"
His childhood was on a dairy farm. His adulthood was behind the wheel of a semi.
Jerry Mies’ “Mooving Violation” is an example of what Haul of Fame is all about.

His custom Peterbilt 379 (with a 359-style conversion) isn’t just decked out with slick-looking chrome, it tells a story: from farm to truck.
Every detail on this rig— from the one-off stainless fabrication to the unmistakable cow-themed accents — reflects a deep respect for where the trucking journey began and the industry it continues to serve.
Jerry Mies grew up on his parents’ dairy farm just west of Wichita, Kansas, where early mornings and hard work were part of everyday life. When the family farm was sold in 1984, Jerry stayed connected to agriculture by hauling milk for nearby family-owned dairies across Sedgwick County and the surrounding area.

In February of 1991, Jerry and his wife Cathy purchased their first truck and milk tanker, officially founding Mies & Sons Trucking — named after the farm that started it all, Mies & Sons Dairy. What began as a single-truck operation has grown into a respected Midwest milk-hauling fleet dedicated exclusively to serving dairy farmers.

When it came time to build a custom show-truck, Jerry wanted a rig that could tell his story.
The Foundation: A Classic Peterbilt Reimagined

The project started with a 2007 Peterbilt 379, fully repainted and rebuilt at a Peterbilt dealership in Garden City, Kansas before arriving at 4 State Trucks.
The truck already featured an early 359-style conversion, setting the tone for a build rooted in classic Peterbilt heritage.
Chrome Shop Mafia & 4 State Trucks: Built, Not Bolted
This build is made up of extensive custom-fab stainless steel, nearly 200 Legendary lights, a custom air-operated hood assist system, and bold cow-themed details across the interior and exterior.

Whether we're looking at the design of the interior panels, bezels, chrome-plated covers, and trim pieces or the 360-degrees of polished chrome coverage on the exterior of the truck, this build was never about standard, factory-style truck parts.

Nearly everything on Mooving Violation is one-off, designed and fabricated specifically for this build by the Chrome Shop Mafia fab team and expertly installed by the 4 State Trucks Installation Shop.
Stainless steel plays a starring role throughout the truck:
- Custom stainless panels, boxes, deck plates, and tank wraps
- Sunburst-pattern stainless toolboxes and air tank covers
- Stainless rear crossmember with recessed belly air setup
- Stainless fifth wheel cover and hidden airline compartments
A Theme You Can’t Miss

What truly separates Mooving Violation is its unapologetic embrace of its milk-hauling identity.
Cow imagery appears throughout the truck — inside the hood, in the grille, hood ornaments, sleeper bars, rear panels, and even illuminated cow heads integrated into the stainless work.
Rather than hiding its purpose, the truck celebrates it.
Inside the cab and sleeper, the theme continues with:
- 359-style dash conversion
- Custom-fabricated aluminum lower dash
- White interior panels with bold red splatter paint inspired by slaughterhouse floors
- Diamond-tuck upholstery and custom door panels with integrated speaker enclosures
Every exterior part ties together that origin story.
Innovation Meets Old-School Cool

One of the most unique features on this build — and a major Haul of Fame qualifier — is the custom air-operated 359 hood assist system developed by Chrome Shop Mafia.

Hood & Engine Bay
Designed to support the weight of the heavy 359 hood, the system:
- Uses air pressure instead of electric motors
- Opens smoothly and evenly
- Works reliably in harsh conditions
- Preserves the classic 359 appearance
Breather tubes were rerouted through the front cowl panels, requiring precise hood modifications and reinforcing the level of engineering behind the build.
It’s a perfect example of vintage styling paired with modern innovation.
Lighting That Brings it All to Life

With nearly 200 Legendary Lights, Mooving Violation commands attention day or night.
Dual-tone Legendary Lights, mini and full-size watermelon lights, full-length underglow, and custom headliner lighting panels transform the truck into a rolling light show.

From the frame rails to the cab and sleeper, no detail was overlooked.
Many of these lighting components — including Legendary Lights and accessories — are available at 4 State Trucks, making this build both aspirational and attainable.
Why It Belongs in the 4 State Trucks Haul of Fame

Mooving Violation earns its place in the 4 State Trucks Haul of Fame because it represents everything the series stands for:
- A deep personal story rooted in family and industry
- A bold, cohesive theme executed without compromise
- Extensive one-off fabrication by Chrome Shop Mafia
- Expert installation by the 4 State Trucks Installation Shop
- A perfect balance of show-stopping design and real-world functionality
This truck isn’t just built to be seen — it’s built to be remembered.
