The Best Semi Truck Half Fenders for Your Big Rig
Upgrading and customizing your truck is part of a long-term vision. After your bumpers and hoods, add some fenders - more specifically: half fenders.
Semi truck half fenders are an exceptional way to start enhancing your truck, be it as an owner-operator who is looking to improve the unique style and look of your truck, or as a fleet manager looking to add lightweight poly or aluminum fenders to a collection of big rigs.
Types of Semi Truck Half Fenders to Consider
Single vs. Tandem Axle Fender: Half fenders are available in both lengths, tandem styles cover two axles per side whereas a single will just cover one.
Wraparound vs. Flat Panel Designs: Curved “low rider” or “low cut” styles give off sleek looks and better axle coverage, but slat/ribbed panels are a bit more rugged and rough.
This style is similar to Gangster-style half fender.

Or choose the Outlaw half fenders with a narrow lip.

Smooth vs Ribbed: ribbed designs offer better structural strength and can hide minor damages; smooth fenders are better looking but can easily show dents and dings.
Mounting Brackets: typically sold separately and often brand-specific.
Long-Drop Fender Design: enhanced length provides more protection from road spray to the truck’s undercarriage while giving a substantial finished look to your rig.
Rolled vs Beaded Edge: a smooth rolled edge provides a cleaner, more refined look, whereas your beaded edge fenders have a more traditional appearance.
Need a sturdier, durable half fender? Get a thicker gauge: "14, 16, or 18 (from large to small).
Most Common Half Fender Materials
Aluminum: Rust-free and lightweight, but more dent-prone than steel; perfect for painting. These come in various finishes.

Stainless Steel (304/430): Premium material with mirror polish; extremely durable and corrosion-resistant.
Polyethylene (HDPE): lightweight, highly durable, won’t easily dent and won't rust; typically 11-26 lbs per axle set.
Galvanized & Painted Steel: budget-friendly, corrosion-resistant coatings, heavier than plastic but often ribbed for added structural integrity.
Half Fender Finish Options
Custom Stainless Steel Patterns: the team at Chrome Shop Mafia fabrication shop delivers unique-looking finishes on stainless steel fenders, from the sun-burst pattern to quilted or checker plate or diamond-plate patterns.
Mirror-Polished Stainless: Show-quality finish, often seen on high-end fenders (Hogebuilt, Trux).
Matte, Brushed, or Painted: Available on aluminum and steel; poly can be molded in color or paintable.
Specialty Films: Minimizer offers unique finishes like Liquid Platinum, Carbon Fiber, and Silver Mirror for poly fenders.
Colored Stainless: Trux offers tinted finishes in blue, green, smoky black, and more under the Smoke & Mirror series.
Light-Hole Cutouts: Some fenders feature light hole cutouts for additional auxiliary lights to be installed.
The Obvious Benefits of Installing Half Fenders on Your Rig
- Reduced road spray to deter corrosion of parts
- Improved look and vibe for your truck
- Weight-saving aluminum or plastic options
Fender Mounting Components
To secure your new part, you’ll need an appropriate mounting kit.
Half fenders require two arms per fender (the front and rear - or center - support). These come in different designs like triangular, straight, or angled.
Different shapes offer more mounting versatility. Let's say there isn't a hole in the frame where the rear fender needs to be positioned. With a Z-bracket or angled bracket, you won't have to drill a new hole into your frame. The right bracket shape gets you the right mounting placement.
It should also be noted that some mounting systems use vertical posts or tubes that attach to the frame.
In this case, clamps are used to securely fasten the fender arms to the posts. U-bolts and nuts help secure the mounting arms, posts, or direct-mount brackets to the frame or suspension components.
Rear Z Bracket for Half Fenders

If your frame doesn't have pre-drilled holes in the perfect spot, an angled Z-bracket can often bridge the gap, allowing for a secure install without needing to drill into the truck's frame rails
Half Fender Mounting Bracket Kits
Complete mounting kits include the necessary brackets, bolts, washers, and even end caps.

Semi truck fender bracket kits can vary dramatically in price, depending on the manufacturer and online seller.
Half Fenders According to Your Budget (Pricing)
Low Budget: plastic or painted steel sets can start around $200 to $300.
Middle Budget: aluminum and 430 SS ranges from $400 to $800.
Premium Budget: polished 304 SS or colored stainless fenders range from $900 to $1,400 or more.
Adding some mounting hardware can mean $100 to $300 more.
