Freightliner FLD SBA Hood Emblems & Bezels
Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner FLD SBA Hood Emblems & Bezels
Will these emblems and bezels fit my specific Freightliner FLD model year?
Our hood emblems and bezels are designed to fit Freightliner FLD models from 1989 through 2007, including FLD112, FLD120, and FLD132 variants with the set-back axle (SBA) configuration. The mounting holes and dimensions are standardized across these years. However, we recommend checking your existing emblem mounting pattern before ordering, as some custom hoods may have different configurations.
What material are these emblems made from, and how long will they last?
Most of our Freightliner FLD emblems are constructed from heavy-duty ABS plastic with chrome plating or powder-coated finishes, while bezels are typically made from polished stainless steel or chrome-plated die-cast metal. With proper installation and regular cleaning, these components typically last 5-10 years in normal driving conditions. UV-resistant coatings help prevent fading and cracking from sun exposure.
Do I need special tools or professional installation for these emblems and bezels?
Installation is straightforward and can be completed with basic hand tools. Most emblems attach using existing mounting studs or adhesive backing, while bezels typically require a Phillips screwdriver and socket wrench. The process usually takes 15-30 minutes per emblem. We include installation instructions with each order, and no drilling or hood modifications are required for standard replacements.
What finish options are available, and which one matches OEM specifications?
We offer chrome, polished stainless steel, and painted finishes. The OEM standard for most FLD models is chrome-plated plastic for emblems and chrome or polished stainless for bezels. Chrome provides the brightest shine but may require more maintenance, while stainless steel offers superior durability and corrosion resistance. Painted options are available in black, white, and custom colors for drivers seeking a unique look.
My original emblem mounting studs are broken. Can I still install new emblems?
Yes, broken studs are a common issue we address. Many of our replacement emblems come with new mounting studs and speed nuts. For emblems with broken or missing studs, we offer adhesive-backed versions using automotive-grade 3M VHB tape that provides permanent mounting without drilling. We also stock stud repair kits that allow you to replace just the mounting hardware while keeping your existing emblems.
