Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 375/377 AC Condensers
Will these AC condensers fit my specific Peterbilt 375 or 377 model year?
Our AC condensers are designed to fit Peterbilt 375 and 377 models from 1987 through 2007. However, there are variations depending on your truck's specific configuration. Models with factory sleeper cabs may require different mounting brackets than day cab versions. We recommend checking your existing condenser's part number or contacting us with your VIN to ensure proper fitment before ordering.
What's the difference between aluminum and copper/brass condensers, and which should I choose?
Aluminum condensers are lighter weight and offer excellent cooling efficiency with modern parallel flow designs. They're typically more affordable but can be harder to repair if damaged. Copper/brass condensers are heavier but more durable and easier to repair at local shops. For trucks operating in harsh conditions or areas with lots of road debris, copper/brass units often last longer. Consider your operating environment and maintenance preferences when choosing.
Can I install the condenser myself, or do I need special tools?
Installation typically requires basic hand tools, but you'll need AC-specific equipment to properly evacuate and recharge the system. The physical mounting usually takes 2-3 hours for experienced mechanics. You'll need to recover the refrigerant, disconnect AC lines, remove the grille and old condenser, then reverse the process. Most customers find it more cost-effective to have a certified AC technician handle the installation to ensure proper refrigerant handling and system performance.
Are these condensers compatible with R134a and newer R1234yf refrigerants?
Most of our condensers are designed for R134a systems, which is standard for Peterbilt 375/377 trucks. If you've converted from an older R12 system, these condensers will work fine with proper O-rings and oil. R1234yf is not typically used in these model years. Always verify your system's refrigerant type before installation, as using the wrong refrigerant can damage components and void warranties.
What warranty coverage comes with these condensers, and what voids it?
Our condensers typically carry a 1-2 year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty is void if the condenser is damaged by road debris, improper installation, contaminated refrigerant, or failure to replace the receiver-dryer during installation. Always flush the AC system and replace the dryer when installing a new condenser to protect your warranty and ensure optimal performance.
