Frequently Asked Questions About Mack CX Truck Deck Plates & Air Line Boxes
Will these deck plates fit my specific Mack CX model year?
Our deck plates and air line boxes are designed to fit Mack CX Vision models from 2011 to 2020. However, minor variations can exist between model years, particularly in mounting hole patterns. We recommend checking your existing deck plate measurements or contacting our support team with your VIN number to ensure proper fitment. Some 2011-2012 models may require slight modifications during installation.
What material are these deck plates made from, and how thick are they?
Most of our Mack CX deck plates are constructed from either 14-gauge (approximately 0.075 inches) or 16-gauge (approximately 0.060 inches) stainless steel, depending on the specific model. The stainless steel options feature either a mirror polish or brushed finish. We also carry aluminum diamond plate options that are typically 0.125 inches thick. All materials are corrosion-resistant and designed to withstand heavy-duty commercial use.
Do I need to drill new holes or modify my truck to install these?
In most cases, our deck plates are designed as direct replacements using existing factory mounting points. However, some installations may require drilling additional holes, especially if you're upgrading from a basic setup to one with integrated air line boxes. Installation typically takes 1-2 hours per side. We recommend having basic hand tools, a drill with metal bits, and stainless steel hardware (often sold separately) on hand.
What's the difference between deck plates with and without air line box cutouts?
Deck plates without cutouts provide a clean, solid appearance and maximum step surface area. Models with air line box cutouts allow you to mount air and electrical connections directly through the plate, keeping lines organized and protected while maintaining easy access. If you frequently connect air lines or need regular access to electrical connections, the cutout version is more practical. The cutouts are typically pre-positioned to match standard air line box dimensions.
Can I get these deck plates in different finishes to match my truck?
Yes, we offer several finish options to match your truck's appearance. Stainless steel plates come in mirror polish (high-shine) or brushed (satin) finishes. Diamond plate options are available in mill finish aluminum or can be polished for extra shine. Some models also offer powder-coated black options. Keep in mind that mirror polish shows fingerprints and requires more frequent cleaning, while brushed finishes hide minor scratches better and are easier to maintain.
