Mack CH/CHN/CHU Truck Mud Flaps

Frequently Asked Questions About Mack CH/CHN/CHU Truck Mud Flaps

Will these mud flaps fit my specific Mack CH series truck model and year?

Our Mack CH/CHN/CHU mud flaps are designed to fit all CH series trucks manufactured from 1988 to 2009. This includes the standard CH, CHN (set-forward axle), and CHU (set-back axle) models. However, trucks with aftermarket modifications to the fender wells or suspension may require additional adjustments. We recommend measuring your existing mud flap mounting area before ordering to ensure proper fitment.

What material options are available and which holds up best against road chemicals and weather?

We offer mud flaps in heavy-duty rubber, anti-spray fabric, and stainless steel-backed options. The rubber flaps (typically 3/8" to 1/2" thick) provide excellent durability against road salts and chemicals, lasting 3-5 years under normal conditions. Anti-spray flaps reduce water spray by up to 90% but may wear faster in extreme conditions. Stainless steel-backed flaps offer the longest lifespan but come at a premium price point.

Do I need special tools or brackets to install these mud flaps?

Installation typically requires basic hand tools including a drill, socket set, and measuring tape. Most of our mud flaps come with universal mounting brackets that fit existing holes on your Mack CH truck. For trucks without pre-drilled holes, you'll need to drill 3-4 mounting holes per flap. Installation usually takes 30-45 minutes per set. Some customers opt for our adjustable anti-sail brackets to prevent flap movement at highway speeds.

What sizes should I order for front versus rear mud flaps?

Standard sizing for Mack CH trucks is 24" wide x 30" tall for rear mud flaps and 24" wide x 24" tall for front flaps. However, state regulations vary - some require mud flaps to be within 8 inches of the ground when loaded. Measure from your mounting point to ensure compliance. We also offer quarter fender flaps (12" x 24") for additional coverage behind the front wheels.

How do weighted versus standard mud flaps perform in windy conditions?

Weighted mud flaps contain a steel or rubber weight bar at the bottom edge, keeping them stable at highway speeds and preventing the "sail effect" that can damage fenders. Standard flaps work well for local driving but may flap excessively above 55 mph. For over-the-road drivers, we recommend either weighted flaps or pairing standard flaps with anti-sail brackets. The added weight typically adds 2-3 pounds per flap but significantly reduces wear on both the flap and your truck's body.
