Frequently Asked Questions About Mack CH/CHN/CHU Truck Door Accessories
Will these door accessories fit my specific Mack CH model year?
Our Mack CH/CHN/CHU door accessories are designed to fit 1988-2009 Mack CH, CHN, and CHU models. However, there were minor variations throughout these years. For CHN models specifically, accessories fit 1999-2004 production years. CHU models are compatible from 2000-2004. We recommend checking your truck's build date on the driver's door jamb sticker to ensure proper fitment. If you're unsure, contact us with your VIN and we'll verify compatibility.
Are these door handles and accessories made from chrome-plated plastic or real stainless steel?
Material varies by product line. Our premium door handles and exterior accessories are constructed from genuine 304 stainless steel with mirror polish finish, not chrome-plated plastic. Budget-friendly options may use ABS plastic with chrome plating. Each product listing clearly states the material composition. Stainless steel accessories typically weigh 2-3 times more than plastic alternatives and won't pit or peel over time like chrome plating can.
Do I need to drill new holes or modify my door to install these accessories?
Most of our Mack CH door accessories are designed as direct replacements using existing mounting points. Door handles, mirror brackets, and window sweeps typically install using factory holes. However, some decorative trim pieces and aftermarket grab handles may require drilling 1-2 additional holes. Each product includes detailed installation instructions specifying if modifications are needed. We also offer no-drill adhesive mounting options for select trim pieces.
What's the difference between OEM-style and aftermarket door mirrors for these trucks?
OEM-style mirrors maintain the exact factory dimensions (typically 7" x 16" for CH models) and use the same mounting pattern with 3-bolt door brackets. Aftermarket options often feature larger viewing areas (8" x 17" or bigger), heated glass, and integrated turn signals. While aftermarket mirrors may require bracket adapters, they generally offer better visibility and additional features. Both styles fit the same door mounting points, but arm reach and mirror head size vary.
How do I fix common door seal and weather stripping issues on my Mack CH?
Door seal problems typically stem from compressed, torn, or improperly installed weather stripping. Our replacement door seals feature hollow-core EPDM rubber construction that maintains flexibility in extreme temperatures. For proper installation, remove old adhesive completely with solvent, ensure the door frame is clean and dry, and install seals at room temperature (above 60?F). Pay special attention to the lower door corners where water intrusion is most common. Most CH models require approximately 17 feet of primary door seal per door.
