Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W990 Mirrors & Acc.
Will these mirrors fit my specific year Kenworth W990?
Our Kenworth W990 mirrors are designed to fit all W990 models from 2018 to present. The mounting brackets and electrical connections are identical across these model years. However, if you have a pre-2018 W900L that you're converting or a custom setup, you'll want to verify the door mounting hole pattern matches the standard W990 configuration. Most mirrors use the same 4-bolt door mount pattern with 3.5-inch spacing between bolts.
What's the difference between heated and non-heated mirror options?
Heated mirrors include internal heating elements that help clear fog and ice in cold weather conditions. They require a 12V power connection through your existing mirror wiring harness. Non-heated mirrors are purely manual and don't require electrical connections, making them easier to install but less practical for drivers in cold climates. The heated versions typically add about $75-100 per mirror but are worth it if you operate in areas with freezing temperatures.
How difficult is it to install these mirrors myself?
Mirror installation is a straightforward 30-45 minute job per side that most drivers can handle with basic tools. You'll need a socket set (typically 13mm and 15mm), a drill if adding new mounting holes, and possibly a wiring crimper for heated mirrors. The biggest challenge is usually reaching the lower mounting bolts from inside the door panel. Having a helper to hold the mirror while you tighten bolts makes the job much easier. We include detailed instructions with each mirror set.
What mirror styles and finishes are available for the W990?
We stock chrome, stainless steel, and black powder-coated finishes. Chrome provides the classic shiny look but requires regular polishing. Stainless steel offers excellent durability with less maintenance. Black powder coat matches well with murdered-out builds and resists chips better than paint. Style options include West Coast (larger rectangular), hood-mounted spots, and aerodynamic designs. Most drivers prefer the traditional West Coast style for maximum visibility.
Do these mirrors come with all necessary mounting hardware?
Yes, our complete mirror assemblies include mounting brackets, bolts, washers, and gaskets needed for installation. Heated mirrors also include wiring pigtails that connect to your truck's existing mirror harness. The only items not included are any tools needed for installation or electrical tape for securing connections. Some aftermarket brackets may require slight modification of mounting holes, but this is clearly noted in the product descriptions when applicable.
