Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W900B/W900L AC Vents
Will these AC vents fit my specific year and model Kenworth W900?
Our AC vents are designed to fit Kenworth W900B models from 1987-2004 and W900L models from 1987-2010. However, there are variations between early and late model years. Pre-1994 models typically use round vents, while 1994 and newer models use rectangular vents. Always verify your existing vent style and measurements before ordering. If you're unsure, contact us with your VIN and we'll help confirm compatibility.
Are these vents made of chrome-plated plastic or actual metal?
We carry both options depending on your preference and budget. Our premium vents feature die-cast aluminum construction with triple chrome plating for maximum durability and authentic appearance. We also offer high-quality ABS plastic vents with chrome finish that provide excellent value while maintaining the classic look. Product descriptions clearly specify the material type for each vent option.
How difficult is it to replace the AC vents, and what tools do I need?
AC vent replacement is typically a 30-45 minute job per vent that most drivers can handle. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver, flat-blade screwdriver for trim removal, and possibly a 7mm or 1/4" socket. The process involves carefully removing the dash trim panel, unscrewing the old vent assembly, disconnecting the directional control cables if equipped, and reversing the process with the new vent. Take photos during disassembly to reference cable routing.
Do these vents come with the directional louvers and control knobs?
Most of our complete vent assemblies include the housing, directional louvers, and control mechanisms. However, some listings are for individual components like bezels or trim rings only. Each product listing specifies exactly what's included. If you need just the chrome bezel or just the louver assembly, we offer those separately to save you money on repairs.
Why do my AC vents keep breaking, and are there heavy-duty options available?
Factory plastic vents commonly crack due to UV exposure, temperature cycling, and vibration. The mounting tabs are particularly vulnerable. We offer reinforced aftermarket vents with thicker mounting tabs and UV-resistant materials. For maximum durability, choose our metal vents with ball-bearing swivel mechanisms instead of plastic bushings. These handle the constant adjustments and truck vibrations much better than standard replacements.
