Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth T300-T450 Radiator Tubes, Gaskets & Hoses
What years and models are these radiator components compatible with?
Our radiator tubes, gaskets, and hoses are designed for Kenworth T300, T400, and T450 models from 1994 through 2007. However, compatibility can vary based on your specific engine configuration (Cat 3126, ISB, ISC, or ISL). Always verify your engine model and radiator type before ordering, as some mid-year production changes may affect fitment. If you're unsure, provide us with your VIN or existing part numbers for accurate matching.
Are these OEM quality parts, and how long can I expect them to last?
We carry both genuine OEM and high-quality aftermarket options. Our aftermarket radiator hoses feature reinforced rubber construction with fabric reinforcement layers, rated for temperatures up to 257?F and pressures up to 50 PSI. Gaskets are made from premium EPDM or silicone materials. Under normal operating conditions, you can expect 3-5 years of service from hoses and 5-7 years from gaskets, though this varies based on maintenance practices and operating conditions.
What tools do I need for installation, and how difficult is it to replace these parts?
Basic installation requires standard hand tools including various socket sizes (typically 10mm-19mm), flat and Phillips screwdrivers, and hose clamp pliers. Most experienced DIY mechanics can complete hose replacement in 1-2 hours. Gasket replacement is more involved, requiring radiator removal and typically takes 3-4 hours. Always drain and properly dispose of coolant before starting. We recommend having new coolant and clamps on hand, as reusing old clamps often leads to leaks.
What's the difference between molded and universal flex hoses?
Molded hoses are pre-formed to exact OEM specifications, ensuring perfect fit and optimal coolant flow with no risk of kinking. Universal flex hoses can be cut to length and bent to fit various applications, making them versatile for custom setups or emergency repairs. While flex hoses are more affordable, molded hoses provide better long-term reliability and are recommended for permanent installations. Both types are available in standard black or high-visibility blue silicone options.
How do I know if I need upper, lower, or bypass hoses, and are clamps included?
Your cooling system typically includes upper (hot coolant from engine), lower (cooled coolant return), and various bypass hoses. Check your existing hoses for part numbers or measure the inside diameter and length. Upper hoses usually have a larger diameter (2-2.5") while bypass hoses are smaller (0.75-1.25"). Most of our hose kits do not include clamps unless specifically noted. We recommend replacing clamps with new constant-torque or spring-loaded types to prevent leaks as hoses compress over time.
