Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth T2000 Floor Trim

Will this floor trim fit my specific year Kenworth T2000?

Our Kenworth T2000 floor trim is designed to fit model years 1996-2003. However, there were minor variations in floor pan dimensions between early (1996-1999) and later (2000-2003) models. We recommend measuring your existing trim or floor opening before ordering. The standard trim pieces measure 48 inches for the driver side and 36 inches for the passenger side. If you're unsure about fitment, contact us with your VIN and we can verify compatibility.

What material is the floor trim made from, and how durable is it?

Most of our T2000 floor trim options are manufactured from either heavy-gauge aluminum (0.063" thickness) or stainless steel (16-gauge). The aluminum trim features a brushed or polished finish with protective clear coating to prevent oxidation. Stainless steel options come in either 304-grade brushed finish or mirror-polished chrome. Both materials are significantly more durable than the factory plastic trim and resist cracking, warping, and UV damage common with OEM parts.

How difficult is the installation, and what tools do I need?

Installation typically takes 1-2 hours and requires basic hand tools. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver, trim removal tools (or plastic putty knives), and possibly a drill with 1/8" bit if your mounting holes don't align perfectly. The trim attaches using the existing screw holes in most cases. The trickiest part is removing the old trim without damaging the surrounding vinyl or carpet. We include detailed instructions with each order, and many customers complete the installation without professional help.

What's the difference between the diamond plate and smooth finish options?

Diamond plate (tread plate) trim features a raised pattern that provides better traction and hides minor scratches or wear better than smooth finishes. It's ideal for drivers who frequently enter/exit the cab with dirty or wet boots. Smooth finish trim offers a cleaner, more refined appearance and is easier to keep clean but shows scratches more readily. Both styles come in the same material options and dimensions. Diamond plate adds approximately 1/8" to the overall thickness.

Do I need to order adhesive or mounting hardware separately?

All necessary mounting hardware is included with your floor trim purchase. This includes stainless steel screws that match your trim finish and rubber washers to prevent rattling. Some installers prefer to add a bead of silicone adhesive along the edges for extra security, but this is optional and not required for proper installation. If you're replacing severely damaged trim where the screw holes are compromised, we offer a mounting kit with self-tapping screws and backing plates for an additional charge.
