Kenworth Cabover AC Vents
Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth Cabover AC Vents
Will these AC vents fit my K100 or K123 model, and what years are compatible?
Our Kenworth cabover AC vents are designed to fit K100, K100E, and K123 models from 1963 through 1989. The mounting holes and dimensions are identical across these years, making installation straightforward. However, some 1987-1989 models with factory-upgraded interior panels may require minor modifications to the mounting tabs. Always verify your specific model configuration before ordering.
Are these vents made from the same material as OEM, or will they crack and fade like my originals?
Most of our replacement vents are manufactured from high-grade ABS plastic with UV inhibitors, which provides better resistance to cracking and fading compared to original 1970s and 1980s factory vents. The louvers are designed with reinforced pivot points to prevent the common breaking issue found in original vents. Chrome-plated options feature triple-plated finishing for long-lasting shine and corrosion resistance.
How difficult is the installation, and what tools do I need?
Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes per vent and requires basic hand tools: a Phillips screwdriver, 7/16" socket or wrench, and possibly a trim removal tool. The process involves removing the old vent assembly from inside the cab, transferring the ductwork connection, and securing the new vent with the provided hardware. No cutting or drilling is required for standard installations. Detailed instructions are included with each vent.
What styles and finishes are available, and which matches my interior best?
We offer three main styles: standard black plastic, chrome-plated, and polished aluminum. The standard black matches most original interiors from the 1970s and 1980s. Chrome vents complement custom or restored interiors with other chrome accents. Round vents measure 4 inches in diameter, while rectangular options are 3.5 x 5 inches. Both styles provide identical airflow but offer different aesthetic options for your restoration or upgrade project.
Can I replace just one broken vent, or should I replace all of them at once?
While you can replace individual vents, we recommend replacing them in pairs (left and right) or all four at once for the best appearance and performance. New vents often have slightly different textures or finishes compared to aged originals, making mismatched vents noticeable. Additionally, if one vent has failed due to age, the others are likely to follow soon. Purchasing a complete set often provides better value and ensures uniform appearance and airflow throughout your cab.
