Frequently Asked Questions About International WorkStar Hood Emblems & Bezels
What years and models of International WorkStar trucks do these emblems and bezels fit?
Our International WorkStar hood emblems and bezels are designed to fit WorkStar models from 2008 through 2017. The WorkStar 7300, 7400, 7500, 7600, and 7700 series all use the same hood design and emblem mounting points. However, we always recommend verifying your specific truck's VIN and year with our customer service team before ordering, as International occasionally made mid-year changes that could affect fitment.
Are these emblems made from chrome-plated plastic or metal, and how durable are they?
Most of our WorkStar emblems feature a chrome-plated ABS plastic construction, which is the OEM standard for these trucks. While some customers prefer metal, the high-grade ABS plastic actually performs better in extreme temperatures and resists cracking better than die-cast metal alternatives. The chrome plating is triple-layered for UV resistance and typically lasts 5-7 years under normal conditions. For maximum durability in harsh environments, we also carry stainless steel bezels that offer superior corrosion resistance.
Do I need any special tools or drilling to install these emblems and bezels?
Installation is straightforward and typically requires no drilling on factory hoods. The emblems use either adhesive backing with guide pins or bolt-on mounting studs that align with existing holes in your hood. You'll need basic hand tools including a socket set, trim removal tools for the old emblems, and adhesive promoter for the best bond. The bezels snap into place around the emblem edges. Most installations take 30-45 minutes. We include detailed instructions with each order, and installation hardware is included where applicable.
What's the difference between OEM and aftermarket emblems, and which should I choose?
OEM emblems are manufactured to International's exact specifications and carry a higher price point, typically $75-150 per emblem. Our aftermarket options range from $25-80 and offer comparable quality with some advantages. The aftermarket emblems often feature improved UV-resistant coatings and reinforced mounting points based on common failure areas of the original design. Unless you need exact OEM restoration for show purposes, our aftermarket emblems provide excellent value and often outlast the originals.
My old emblem left adhesive residue and slight fading on the hood. How do I prep the surface?
Proper surface preparation is crucial for new emblem adhesion and appearance. Remove old adhesive using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften it, then carefully scrape with a plastic razor blade. Clean residue with adhesive remover or WD-40, followed by isopropyl alcohol. For paint fading or ghosting around the old emblem, you may need to polish the area with compound or touch up with matching paint. Some customers opt for slightly larger emblems or bezels to cover any discoloration. Allow any paint or primer to cure for 24 hours before installing new emblems.
