Frequently Asked Questions About International S2200-S2600 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras
Will these fuel tank covers fit my specific International S2200-S2600 model year?
Our fuel tank covers are designed to fit International S2200-S2600 models from 2002-2017. However, tank sizes can vary between 60-gallon, 80-gallon, and 100-gallon configurations. Before ordering, measure your tank diameter (typically 23" or 25") and verify whether you have a round or D-shaped tank. Most covers are universal within these specifications, but some custom applications may require modification of mounting brackets.
What material options are available and which holds up best against road conditions?
We offer three primary materials: 16-gauge polished stainless steel, 18-gauge aluminum, and heavy-duty vinyl. Stainless steel provides the best long-term durability and resistance to rust, making it ideal for harsh weather conditions and road salt exposure. Aluminum offers good protection at a lighter weight but may show pitting over time. Vinyl covers are the most affordable option and work well for protecting paint, though they typically need replacement every 3-5 years depending on exposure.
How difficult is the installation process and what tools will I need?
Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes per tank with basic hand tools. You'll need a socket set (usually 7/16" and 1/2"), Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, and possibly a drill with metal bits if your brackets require new mounting holes. Most covers use existing tank strap bolts or clip-on mounting systems. The main challenge is accessing tight spaces around the tank straps - having a ratcheting wrench helps significantly. No welding or permanent modifications are required.
Do these covers come in different styles and finishes?
Yes, we stock multiple styles including full-wrap covers, half-moon designs, and flame-style cutouts. Finish options include mirror polish, brushed stainless, powder-coated black, and chrome-plated versions. Full-wrap styles provide maximum protection but require tank removal for installation. Half-moon covers install without removing the tank and are the most popular choice. Custom cutout designs like flames or slots add visual appeal while maintaining protection.
Will fuel tank covers affect my fuel gauge readings or tank ventilation?
Properly designed fuel tank covers will not interfere with fuel gauge sensors or tank ventilation when installed correctly. Our covers include pre-cut openings or removable panels for fuel gauge sending units and vent lines. However, ensure you identify your sending unit location before installation - it's typically at the top or rear of the tank. If your cover doesn't have the correct cutouts, you can safely drill them using the template measurements provided in the installation instructions.
