Frequently Asked Questions About International S1700-S1900 Floor Accessories
Will these floor mats fit my specific International S-Series truck model and year?
Our floor accessories are designed to fit International S1700, S1800, and S1900 models from 1979 through 2001. However, there were minor cab variations during this production run. For S1700 and S1800 models from 1979-1989, verify if you have the standard or extended cab configuration. S1900 models (1989-2001) typically have more consistent floor dimensions. We recommend checking your VIN's 10th digit for the year and measuring your floor pan width at the transmission hump (should be 24-26 inches) to ensure proper fitment.
What's the difference between rubber and carpet floor mats for these trucks?
Rubber floor mats are ideal for work trucks and harsh conditions. They're waterproof, chemical-resistant, and easy to hose off. Our heavy-duty rubber options are 3/8 inch thick with raised edges to contain spills. Carpet mats provide better insulation and a finished appearance but require more maintenance. They feature 16-20 oz automotive-grade carpet with rubber backing. Most customers in construction or agriculture prefer rubber, while highway drivers often choose carpet for comfort and noise reduction.
How difficult is the installation, and what tools do I need?
Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes. You'll need a utility knife for minor trimming, a heat gun or hair dryer to help mats conform to floor contours, and possibly a drill if adding snap fasteners. Remove old mats and thoroughly clean the floor first. Most mats require trimming around the clutch pedal and shifter boot. The transmission hump area often needs the most adjustment. Pre-fit everything before making cuts, and trim conservatively - you can always remove more material but can't add it back.
Do these floor accessories work with aftermarket seats or air-ride pedestals?
Most of our floor mats accommodate factory seat mounting points, but aftermarket air-ride seats may require additional trimming around the pedestal base. Measure the footprint of your seat base - standard factory seats have a 16x16 inch mounting pattern, while aftermarket air-ride systems can be 18x20 inches or larger. If you have non-standard seats, choose mats without pre-cut seat areas or be prepared to modify them. Contact us with your specific seat model for guidance.
How long do these floor mats typically last in a working truck?
Under normal commercial use, quality rubber mats last 5-7 years, while carpet mats typically need replacement after 3-4 years. Longevity depends on your application - dump trucks and construction vehicles see more wear than highway trucks. Look for mats with UV inhibitors to prevent cracking and fading. Regular cleaning extends life significantly. Signs it's time to replace include worn-through spots near pedals, permanent curling at edges, or loss of the anti-slip backing. Rotating driver and passenger mats every 6 months can double their lifespan.
