Freightliner Classic Floor Trim
Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Classic Floor Trim
Will these floor trim pieces fit my specific year Freightliner Classic?
Our floor trim pieces are designed to fit Freightliner Classic models from 1990 through 2010. However, there are variations between model years. Pre-2000 models typically use a 3-piece floor trim set, while 2000 and newer models often require a 4-piece configuration. Check your existing trim count or contact us with your VIN to confirm the correct fitment for your specific truck.
What material options are available, and which holds up best in daily use?
We offer floor trim in both polished stainless steel and chrome-plated ABS plastic. Stainless steel trim is more durable and resistant to cracking, making it ideal for trucks that see heavy daily use or extreme weather conditions. Chrome ABS is more budget-friendly and works well for show trucks or lighter-duty applications. Both materials feature anti-slip surfaces, but stainless steel maintains its grip pattern longer under heavy foot traffic.
Can I install floor trim myself, or do I need professional help?
Most drivers can install floor trim in 30-45 minutes with basic hand tools. You'll need a drill with 1/8" bit for pilot holes, a Phillips screwdriver, and possibly trim removal tools for the old pieces. The trim typically attaches with self-tapping screws through pre-marked mounting points. The trickiest part is usually removing old trim without damaging the floor mat underneath. We include detailed instructions with each set.
Do I need to order trim for both driver and passenger sides?
Yes, floor trim is side-specific and sold separately for driver and passenger sides. Each side has unique contours to match the floor pan and pedal placement. Many customers order both sides for a complete refresh, but you can replace just one side if needed. Make sure to select the correct side when ordering, as they are not interchangeable.
How do I clean and maintain chrome or stainless floor trim?
For stainless steel trim, use a stainless steel cleaner and microfiber cloth, wiping with the grain to avoid scratches. Chrome trim requires gentler care - use mild soap and water or chrome polish, avoiding abrasive cleaners that can damage the plating. Both types benefit from regular cleaning to prevent road salt and dirt buildup. Apply a thin coat of wax monthly to protect the finish and make future cleaning easier.
