Freightliner Classic Floor Mats
Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Classic Floor Mats
Will these floor mats fit my specific Freightliner Classic model year?
Our Freightliner Classic floor mats are designed to fit model years 1990-2010. The Classic and Classic XL share the same floor pan dimensions, so the mats are interchangeable between these models. However, always double-check your specific cab configuration (day cab vs. sleeper) as this affects the rear mat dimensions. If you have a pre-1990 model or a heavily customized floor, we recommend contacting our customer service team with your VIN for verification.
What material options are available and which holds up best to daily wear?
We offer three main material options: heavy-duty rubber, premium carpet with rubber backing, and all-weather thermoplastic. Based on customer feedback, the heavy-duty rubber mats (typically 3/8" thick) perform best for drivers who are in and out of the truck frequently or work in muddy, wet conditions. The rubber mats clean easily with a hose and resist oil, grease, and chemicals. Carpet mats provide a more refined look but require more maintenance and are better suited for highway drivers who want comfort and noise reduction.
How difficult is the installation, and will I need to remove my seats?
Installation is straightforward and typically takes 15-30 minutes. You do not need to remove your seats for the driver and passenger front mats - they're designed to work around the seat pedestals. Simply remove your old mats, clean the floor area, and lay the new mats in place. Some trimming around the pedals or seat base may be required for a perfect fit. The mats feature anti-slip backing, but we recommend using the included retention clips or hooks near the pedals for maximum security.
Do these mats cover the transmission hump and dead pedal area?
Yes, our complete floor mat sets include coverage for the transmission tunnel (center hump) and the dead pedal area on the driver's side. The transmission tunnel piece is sold separately if you only need that component. The dead pedal coverage is integrated into the driver's side mat design. For automatic transmission models, the hump cover will be slightly different than manual transmission versions, so please specify your transmission type when ordering.
How do I clean and maintain these mats to maximize their lifespan?
For rubber and thermoplastic mats, regular cleaning with soap and water is sufficient. A stiff brush helps remove embedded dirt, and a pressure washer works great for heavy mud. Avoid petroleum-based cleaners as they can cause the rubber to deteriorate. For carpet mats, vacuum regularly and use automotive carpet cleaner for stains. In winter, remove and dry the mats periodically to prevent moisture buildup underneath, which can cause floor pan rust. With proper care, quality mats typically last 3-5 years in commercial use.
