Freightliner Classic Custom Pedals
Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Classic Custom Pedals
Will these custom pedals fit my specific year Freightliner Classic model?
Our custom pedals are designed to fit Freightliner Classic models from 1990 through 2007. The mounting patterns are identical across these years, so installation is straightforward. However, if your truck has aftermarket floor modifications or non-standard pedal assemblies, we recommend measuring your existing pedal mounting points before ordering. The standard mounting bolt spacing is 3.5 inches center-to-center for brake and clutch pedals.
What materials are these pedals made from, and how durable are they?
Most of our Freightliner Classic custom pedals are manufactured from either billet aluminum or heavy-duty chrome-plated steel. Aluminum pedals typically weigh 2-3 pounds each and feature CNC-machined anti-slip grooves. Steel pedals are heavier at 4-5 pounds but offer superior strength for heavy-use applications. Both materials are designed to withstand years of daily commercial use. The rubber inserts on our pedal pads are made from high-durometer compounds that resist wear and maintain grip even when wet.
Can I install these pedals myself, or do I need a mechanic?
Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes per pedal and can be completed with basic hand tools. You'll need a socket set (usually 9/16" or 5/8"), and possibly a drill if your pedals require new mounting holes. Most pedals use the existing mounting points and hardware. The main challenge is working in the confined footwell space - having a creeper or mechanic's seat helps significantly. We include detailed instructions with each pedal set, but if you're uncomfortable working in tight spaces, any truck shop can install them in under an hour.
What styles and finishes are available for Freightliner Classic pedals?
We stock several popular styles including flame designs, diamond plate patterns, skull motifs, and classic ribbed designs. Finish options include polished aluminum, black anodized, chrome-plated, and powder-coated colors (typically black, red, or blue). Some models feature LED backlighting that connects to your dash lighting circuit. The most popular combination is polished aluminum with black rubber inserts, as it matches most interior trim packages and is easy to keep clean.
Do custom pedals affect pedal feel or safety?
When properly installed, custom pedals should not affect brake or clutch pedal travel, pressure, or safety. Our pedals are designed as covers that mount over your existing pedal arms, maintaining the factory geometry and pivot points. The added weight (typically 2-5 pounds per pedal) is negligible and won't impact pedal return spring function. However, ensure you choose pedals with adequate tread or grip patterns - smooth chrome pedals without rubber inserts can become slippery when wet and are not recommended for daily driving applications.
