Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Cascadia 113/125 Bumper Trim
Will this bumper trim fit my specific Cascadia model year?
Our Cascadia 113/125 bumper trim is designed to fit 2018-2024 model years. However, there are slight variations between early 2018 models and 2019+ models due to minor design changes Freightliner made to the bumper mounting points. Before ordering, check your VIN or measure the mounting hole spacing on your existing bumper. The standard spacing for 2019+ models is 16 inches center-to-center, while some 2018 models have 15.5-inch spacing. If you're unsure, our customer service team can help verify compatibility with your specific truck.
What's the difference between chrome plastic and stainless steel bumper trim options?
Chrome plastic trim is lighter weight (approximately 8-10 lbs) and more affordable, but may show wear after 2-3 years of heavy use, especially in harsh weather conditions. Stainless steel trim weighs 15-20 lbs and costs more upfront, but offers superior durability and maintains its finish for 5+ years with minimal maintenance. Stainless steel also provides better impact resistance for minor parking lot bumps. Both options use the same mounting hardware and installation process.
Can I install the bumper trim myself, or do I need a shop to do it?
Most drivers can complete the installation in 30-45 minutes with basic tools. You'll need a socket wrench set (typically 13mm and 15mm), a drill with 3/8" bit (for some models), and potentially a helper to hold the trim in place while securing. The trim comes with mounting brackets that align with existing holes on most Cascadias. The main challenge is reaching the lower mounting points - having a creeper or jack stands helps. No cutting or welding is required. We include detailed instructions with diagrams for each model year.
How do I maintain the chrome finish and prevent rust or pitting?
For chrome plastic, wash monthly with mild soap and water, then apply a quality automotive wax. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the chrome coating. For stainless steel, use a dedicated stainless polish every 2-3 months to maintain shine and prevent water spots. In winter salt states, rinse the trim weekly to prevent corrosion at the mounting points. Small scratches on chrome plastic can be touched up with chrome paint pens, while stainless steel scratches can be buffed out with fine-grit polishing compound.
What styles and widths are available for the Cascadia 113/125?
We stock three main styles: Standard (16" wide), Wide Load (20" wide), and Texas Style (18" wide with integrated light bar). The Standard fits flush with factory bumpers and is DOT compliant in all states. Wide Load extends 2 inches on each side for enhanced protection but may require wide-load permits in some states. Texas Style includes pre-drilled holes for auxiliary LED lights and built-in wiring channels. All styles come in chrome plastic, polished stainless steel, or black powder-coated steel finishes. Custom lettering or logo cutouts are available with 2-3 week lead time.
