Kenworth W900B/W900L Replacement Carpet-Floor Mat
Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W900B/W900L Replacement Carpet-Floor Mat
What's the difference between cut pile and loop pile carpet materials, and which holds up better in a working truck?
Cut pile carpet features upright fibers that create a plush, residential feel but can mat down faster under heavy boot traffic. Loop pile carpet has continuous fiber loops that resist crushing and hide dirt better, making it the preferred choice for most commercial drivers. Loop pile typically lasts 2-3 years longer in daily use and is easier to vacuum clean. Both options are available with rubber backing for moisture resistance.
Will these floor mats fit my specific W900B or W900L model year, and what about trucks with factory air ride seats?
Our replacement mats are designed to fit W900B models from 1987-2006 and W900L models from 1989-present. However, fitment can vary based on seat configuration. Trucks with factory air ride seats or aftermarket seat bases may require trimming around the seat mount area. We recommend checking your floor pan measurements: standard W900B/L floor pans measure approximately 54" wide at the rear wall. Extended cab models require different mat sets specifically designed for the additional floor space.
How difficult is the installation, and what tools or materials will I need?
Installation typically takes 2-3 hours and requires basic hand tools. You'll need a sharp utility knife for trimming, heavy-duty scissors, contact adhesive or double-sided automotive tape for edges, and a heat gun or hair dryer to help mold the mat around contours. The most challenging part is usually removing the old mat and cleaning adhesive residue. Many drivers find it helpful to let the new mat sit in the sun or a warm area for 30 minutes before installation to make it more pliable.
Are these mats available with custom logos or in different colors besides standard black and gray?
Yes, we offer several customization options. Standard colors include black, dark gray, medium gray, and burgundy. Custom embroidered logos can be added to most mat sets for an additional charge, with a minimum order of one set. Logo placement is typically on the driver's side mat in front of the seat. We also offer matching sleeper mats and can color-match to specific Kenworth interior color codes from 1990 onward.
How do these aftermarket mats compare to OEM Kenworth mats in terms of thickness and durability?
Our replacement mats feature 20-ounce carpet weight compared to the OEM 16-ounce specification, providing approximately 25% more material density. The backing is upgraded from standard jute to waterproof poly backing, preventing moisture penetration and floor pan rust. While OEM mats typically last 3-4 years in commercial use, customers report our heavy-duty mats lasting 5-7 years with proper maintenance. The trade-off is slightly less flexibility during installation, which is why we recommend warming the mats before fitting.
