Frequently Asked Questions About International LoneStar Frame Crossmembers & Covers
Will these crossmembers and covers fit my specific International LoneStar model year?
Our frame crossmembers and covers are designed to fit International LoneStar trucks from 2009 to present. However, there were minor frame variations between 2009-2012 models and 2013+ models. When ordering, please specify your exact year and whether you have a standard or extended cab configuration. If you're unsure about compatibility, contact our support team with your VIN number for verification before purchasing.
What materials are these crossmembers made from, and how durable are they?
Most of our International LoneStar crossmembers are manufactured from heavy-duty steel with either powder-coated or chrome-plated finishes. The steel thickness typically ranges from 3/16" to 1/4" depending on the specific product. These components are built to withstand road debris, salt, and weather conditions. Chrome options feature triple-plated chrome over steel, while powder-coated versions use industrial-grade coating that resists chipping and corrosion.
Do I need special tools or professional installation for these parts?
Installation complexity varies by product. Basic frame covers typically bolt directly to existing mounting points and can be installed with standard hand tools in 30-60 minutes. Full crossmember replacements may require lifting equipment, cutting tools, and welding for proper installation. We recommend professional installation for structural crossmembers. Each product includes detailed instructions, and we note the installation difficulty level in the product description.
What finish options are available, and which holds up best?
We offer three main finish options: mirror-polished chrome, powder-coated black, and raw steel (for custom finishing). Chrome provides the classic show truck appearance but requires regular maintenance to prevent pitting. Powder-coated black offers excellent durability with minimal maintenance and resists road chemicals better. Raw steel allows for custom painting but must be finished promptly to prevent rust. For trucks operating in harsh winter conditions, we typically recommend powder-coated options.
Can I install auxiliary lighting or accessories on these crossmembers?
Many of our crossmembers come pre-drilled with standard mounting holes for auxiliary lights, typically accommodating 4" to 6" round lights. Some models feature integrated light brackets or provisions for light bars. If you plan to add lights, verify the crossmember specifications for weight capacity and mounting hole patterns. Custom drilling is possible on most models, but this may void the finish warranty on chrome products.
