Frequently Asked Questions About International 8100-8300 Interior Dash Trim
Will these dash trim pieces fit my specific International truck model and year?
Our International 8100-8300 interior dash trim pieces are designed to fit International 8100, 8200, and 8300 series trucks manufactured from 1989 through 2004. However, International made several dashboard variations during this production run. We recommend checking your VIN or calling our customer service team at 1-888-875-7787 with your truck's year and model number to ensure proper fitment, especially for trucks manufactured between 1999-2001 when dashboard designs underwent significant changes.
What material are these dash trim pieces made from, and how durable are they?
Most of our International 8100-8300 dash trim pieces are manufactured from high-impact ABS plastic with UV-resistant coatings to prevent fading and cracking. Chrome-finished pieces feature triple-plated chrome over ABS plastic bases. These materials are designed to withstand the temperature extremes and vibrations common in commercial truck environments. Based on customer feedback, properly installed pieces typically last 5-7 years under normal commercial use conditions before showing signs of wear.
Do I need special tools or professional installation for these dash trim pieces?
Most dash trim installations can be completed with basic hand tools including Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, trim removal tools, and in some cases, a 7mm or 8mm socket wrench. The majority of pieces use factory mounting points with clips or screws. However, some aftermarket gauge bezels and switch panels may require minor drilling or cutting. We include installation instructions with applicable products, and installation typically takes 30-60 minutes per piece for someone with basic mechanical skills.
What finish options are available, and which matches my truck's interior?
We offer dash trim in several finishes to match International factory interiors: gray (most common for 1989-1998 models), black (standard on 1999-2004 models), chrome, and woodgrain. To determine your original finish, check behind your existing trim pieces for color codes, or reference your truck's build sheet. Gray interiors typically have code G7, while black interiors show code B9. If you're updating your entire dash, mixing chrome accents with your base color creates a popular custom look.
My old dash trim has broken mounting tabs - will the new pieces still install properly?
Broken mounting tabs are a common issue with aging International dash trim. Our replacement pieces include all necessary mounting hardware and clips. If your dash has damaged mounting points, we recommend using automotive-grade adhesive strips or clips (available separately) as a secondary mounting method. For severely damaged mounting areas, some customers have successfully used small self-tapping screws in inconspicuous locations. Contact our technical support team for specific solutions based on your damage type.
